If he there was a hint of that to come, there already would be candidates out there feeling the temperature with exploratory committees. It's a bad idea anyway because the Democrats will lose. There is a block of voters out there that will vote for the incumbent because they don't like change and they are enough to tip the election if they have to make a choice and most likely they will chose the candidate of the opposite party. Look at your history. It just never ends well.
