SYDNEY, Australia (AP) - A lawyer for an Australian terror suspect who allegedly fought with the Taliban accused the United States in an interview aired Sunday of staging a ``Stalinist show trial'' in order to convict and possibly execute him quickly.

David Hicks, 27, is one of six people in the first group to face new military tribunals established by President Bush after the Sept. 11 attacks. Two are Britons, while the identities and nationalities of the other three have not been disclosed.

They are among some 680 people detained in the war on terror and being held at a U.S. military prison camp in Cuba.

Richard Bourke, who is representing Hicks in the United States, said his client was being denied justice and deprived of his rights under both the Australian and American legal systems.
