Cleric accused of spying leaves military

WASHINGTON, Jan 8: Capt James Yee, the Muslim Guantanamo Bay chaplain accused of espionage but later fully exonerated, left the US Army, his lawyer said on Saturday.

Friday was his last day in the army when he left the US military institution with an honourable discharge.

Capt Yee, a Muslim American, was arrested on Sept 10, 2003, and spent 76 days in a naval brig. He initially was linked to a potential spy ring operating at the naval prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he was counseling more than 650 Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters held there.

The military never charged him for those crimes, and a case against him for mishandling classified information unravelled.

1. from what I've read,

Yee and some of the other Muslims at the base were always looked on with suspicion because they prayed together daily. Some felt that it was nuts to suspect Americans just because of their faith, but they were transferred out of there and the case put into the hands of those who appeared to think that Muslims were obviously guilty of something. It is sad that a West Point graduate had his career ruined by this.

because he was a muslim cleric. No evidence of any credibility was ever presented in the spying charge. Our tax dollars at work keeping us safe....

3. The Army charged him with adultery and claim they found

pornography on his computer after the spying charges couldn't be proved.

Since nazis were specifically destructive of Jews, there will have to be a different term applied to this fascist-imperialistic movement.

Maybe, since they already labelled themselves, it will be called "neoconism" and will be as repugnant as the word "nazism" is today.
