Gonzales: I'll Prosecute Obscenity Cases
Gonzales: I'll Prosecute Obscenity Cases

44 minutes ago White House - AP Cabinet & State

By MARK SHERMAN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said Monday he would move aggressively to prosecute obscenity cases, and he laid out a broader agenda much like that of his predecessor, John Ashcroft (news - web sites).

In his first lengthy address since becoming attorney general in early February, Gonzales said people who distribute obscene materials do not enjoy constitutional guarantees of free speech.

"I am committed to prosecuting these crimes aggressively," he said to a Washington meeting of the California-based Hoover

5. Obscene:
Edited on Mon Feb-28-05 04:26 PM by aden_nak
ob·scene

1. Offensive to accepted standards of decency or modesty.
2. Inciting lustful feelings; lewd.
3. Repulsive; disgusting: “The way he writes about the disease that killed her is simply obscene” (Michael Korda).
4. So large in amount as to be objectionable or outrageous: “local merchants in nearby stores get hammered by stratospheric rents and obscene taxes” (Joe Queenan).

I will expect, then, that his prosecution of George W. Bush is well underway, based on all of the evidence against him.

6. What is this really about?
They can't control our radio content if it is on satellite through the FCC ... so is this the alternative plan?

22. A prediction
The GOP Congress will give the FCC jurisdiction over satellite radio content the day after Howard Stern starts on Sirius. They'll justify it by saying that the FCC needs to "protect children" from hearing sex talk on satellite radio. Since the FCC regulates the frequencies that Sirius and XM use (and since many satellite subscribers in urban areas are really getting their signal from repeater transmitters on the ground) I'm kind of surprised that the FCC hasn't already declared that they can regulate satellite radio. I also predict that the Repukes will give the FCC authority over cable TV to "protect children" from SpongeBob and HBO.

They need some top-flight attorneys working on this now over at Sirius (they probably are).

13. maybe I'll make an obscene website with pictures of
dead Iraqi children, replete with anguished parents who don't understand why it has happened. You know the sort of obscenity I mean...infants with their faces blown off, dead civilians after daisy cutter bombs have exploded, prisoners being beaten sensless. Real obscenity on which there would be a consensus of opinion. The perpetrators of such obscenity have lost all rights according to my value system.

As for anything involving consensual sex that avoids kids, animals or violence, I really don't give a rat's ass.

This is a stalking horse...watch for the internets being targetted next. Damned cesspits of free speech.

"The Internet may fairly be regarded as a never-ending worldwide conversation. The Government may not, through the Communications Decency Act, interrupt that conversation."

16. You mean the obscenity of half a child's head missing??
or how about other vital body parts missing. Children shot while they were in their beds, or bombed while they were in their beds.

Or the sadistic, sexual torture that Gonzo-sleazy-whore said was o.k.

I guess my definition of obscene is very different from the sanctimonious assholes now in power -- I wonder if Gonzo-sleazy-whore was one of Gannon's clients -- he does have a cute little voice.

30. I'm very afraid they will destroy the internet
I mean, there is some cussing on this website. They ought to just shut us down to protect the children, right? Sex is all over the net. Illegal downloading, gambling, and all sorts of sins can all be done on the world wide web. The internet is already a shell of it's former self if you ask me and they intend to destroy it the rest of the way in the name of protecting children and record companies.

Off on a tangent but you would think highspeed internet providers would oppose the record companies on that because, how many people don't have much reason to have high speed broadband if they can't download stuff off KaZaa?

39. Irony alert:
Remember this?

Until he abruptly quit last month - around the time that President Bush nominated his stepfather, White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales, to be U.S. attorney general - Web designer Jared Freeze worked as a consultant for notorious pornographer Larry Flynt.

A knowledgeable source told Lowdown that the twentysomething Freeze - a child from the previous marriage of Gonzales' wife, Rebecca - left Flynt's employ at the urging of Gonzales, who was said to be worried that the Hustler magazine connection might cause political damage during his confirmation hearings.

Yeah, you, over here, Mr. Gonzales---

Hey, douchebag.......

While you are prosecuting people for porn, there's a federal judge who lost her husband and mother. Think you could lift your head out of the smut prosecutions (and we all know how you like reviewing the evidence) and work on that?

Hey, Alberto!!! There's a whole bunch of home-grown terrorists that need your attention. And they aren't wielding dildoes......
