Student Arrested For Terrorist Threat Says Incident A Misunderstanding
---------<snip>---------

A George Rogers Clark High School junior arrested Tuesday for making terrorist threats told LEX 18 News Thursday that the "writings" that got him arrested are being taken out of context.

---------<snip>---------

"It's a fake story. I made it up. I've been working on one of my short stories, (and) the short story they found was about zombies. Yes, it did say a high school. It was about a high school over ran by zombies."

2. It's just so absurd as to be stupid.
I can't imagine why in the world a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT would set the short stories he writes in HIGH SCHOOL. Nope, can't think of a single reason besides terrorism.

3. That is fucking ridiculous
I hope this kid turns into the next Quentin Tarantino or something and DOES make a movie based on all those people. Ha!

4. Kentucky is becoming more paranoid than the Bush White House.
This kid should sue for 20 million dollars. That would be enough to start his own publishing company, move to Hawaii and write forever while drinking mai-tais and eating mahi-mahi.

5. What I found most chilling was this line:
"Even so, police say the nature of the story makes it a felony."
The "nature" of the story? Can we say THOUGHT POLICE???

I'm wondering if this news outlet didn't just get the story wrong. Perhaps he was arrested by the grammar police for his abhorrent use of the English language:

"It didn't mention nobody who lives in Clark County, didn't mention (George Rogers Clark High School), didn't mention no principal or cops, nothing,"
said Poole.

6. Yeah, I wondered about his actual grammar when I read that.
But I've actually known several people who speak in "southern/country" slang, but write in proper English.

7. Even More Chilling...
then the fact that his Grandparents turned him in? I just don't know what to say anymore about the direction this country is heading. We are all Gulag material.

8. One of two scenarios are likely:
1) Either the kid really is troubled and could have been planning something sinister, in which case the TV station did a horrendous job of reporting the facts.

OR...

2) His granparents are good, upstanding decent Christian folks who have been sufficiently brainwashed by the conservative right to fear and question everything to the point that common sense has totally evecuated itself from their thought processes.

9. There was a story on NPR
awhile back, about a grade school kid who went to school and was saying he thought the Iraq war was wrong, Bush was an idiot, etc. etc. The freakin' FBI was sent to visit his parents! They wanted to know what the parents were saying/teaching this kid at home that he should go about saying such awful things. The parents, quite naturally, were appalled by this turn of events.
Maybe since the CIA has been demoted, they'll just turn them into the domestic version of the KGB here now...........
