Bush to Seek Putin's Support on Iraq, Iran

President Bush on Friday will seek the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin on postwar assistance in Iraq and in pressuring Iran to give up its alleged nuclear weapons program, U.S. officials said.

Bush and Putin are to meet at Camp David on Friday night and Saturday, making the Russian the latest in a growing list of foreign leaders to be invited to the mountaintop presidential retreat.

In addition to Iraq and Iran, the U.S. officials said, the two leaders will discuss efforts to contain North Korea's nuclear weapons program, revive the Middle East peace process, and U.S. pursuit of a counter- proliferation initiative to persuade governments to join in a global effort to stop the spread of weapons of mass destruction. --

"It's a question that almost cannot be given a time frame deadline. The time frame for the settlement of the situation in Iraq will depend on the quality of the document we adopt jointly. It has to be a document that the Iraqi people believe in," Putin told students at Columbia University in New York on Thursday. --

1. I hope that he doesn't hold his breath
Putin knows as well as everybody else does that the US loses any sort of economical edge with every second that massacre in Iraq continues. Not helping is the best way that he can get an economic advantage for his country.
