UCSC workers authorize strike (clerical workers)
Sentinel staff report

SANTA CRUZ — Clerical workers at UC Santa Cruz have voted to authorize a strike, local union president Becky Klein announced Friday. <snip>

CUE represents about 600 workers at UCSC. Klein said about 94 percent of those voting over three days were in favor of a strike. She declined to say how many voted. <snip>

A fact-finder agreed with the union that the university had the money to grant pay hikes. The university’s position is that across-the-board raises are not possible unless the state provides adequate funding.

Two weeks ago, UC service workers represented by the American Federation of State County and Municipal Workers authorized a strike, with 92 percent in favor. <snip>
