Campus hunger strike continues, follows protests nationwide (Washington U)
Associated Press

ST. LOUIS - Students at Washington University ended a hunger strike Saturday after reaching an agreement to meet with Chancellor Mark Wrighton to discuss better pay for university workers.

Wrighton met with the protesters Saturday evening in his office after an afternoon rally that drew community support. He and the protesters agreed to meet three times this week.

About 15 students have been camped out in the undergraduate admissions office since April 4. Twelve of the protesters began their hunger strike last Monday. The students have refused to leave until the university negotiates a living wage for the school's lowest-paid workers. <snip>

A rally that drew about 160 people Saturday marked the latest phase of the protest. Students led cheers and read anonymous testimonies from disgruntled campus workers. <snip>

5. Chancellor of Washington University to meet with protesters three times
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Student protesters who are advocating for better pay for Washington University contract workers will meet with Chancellor Mark Wrighton three times this week to discuss the issue.

The agreement, announced Saturday evening after Wrighton met with some of the student protesters, convinced some of the students to end a six-day hunger strike. However, the students said they would continue a sit-in at the undergraduate admissions office until they meet with Wrighton on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

About 15 students have been camped out in the undergraduate admissions office since April 4, and 12 of the protesters began their hunger strike last Monday. The students want the university to negotiate a living wage for the school’s lowest-paid workers, such as groundskeepers and food service workers. <snip>

2. Work/study program workers?
You have to sign up to read article.

Work/study (if it still exists) was slave labor back in the early 80's. I'm glad to see student activism come alive, it's time to survive again.
