Caracas 'to try bombing suspect'

Venezuela has sought to reassure the US it will not hand over a Cuban exile accused of bombing an airliner to Fidel Castro's regime if he is extradited.

Anti-communist militant Luis Posada Carriles, 77, is being held in the US where he is seeking political asylum. He is wanted by both Cuba and Venezuela in connection with the 1976 attack which killed 73 people.

US officials said they do not turn over those suspected of crimes to any regime that would hand them over to Cuba. Venezuelan Vice-President Jose Vicente Rangel described the US position as "an excuse, a subterfuge, that they are using precisely in order to not approve the extradition".

He insisted that Mr Posada Carriles would appear before the Venezuelan courts if he was extradited. "There is no possibility that Venezuela would turn him over to another country if Posada Carriles' extradition to Venezuela is approved," he said.

Recently declassified documents show Mr Posada Carriles used to work for the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

2. Why do they pardon terrorists if they are Republican allies?
Posada's rap sheet goes back to the '60s when he fired a bazooka at a Polish ship harboured in Miami Bay. Now I've read where someone from the corporate press has rewrote the incident and referred to it as a "recoil-less rifle".

Posada's picture reveals a face of a man who is hiding a lot of ugly secrets.

It would be very convenient for the CIA and US gov. if Posada suddenly collapsed from a heart attack and die right now. A simple black ops job. Every day that he lives as a free man in the US is a day of shame for Bush regime and the US gov. in general.

I think the C4 explosive which was hidden in the airplane bathroom, and exploded after take-off from the Barbados, this was standard US military issue. There is most likely a direct CIA tie to that terrorist act. Cuba has every right to sue the CIA and the US gov. for compensation. The US has done this sort of thing to Cuba, most recently in the Brothers to the Rescue shootdown, which was perfectly justified from the point of view of Cuba and its legitimate right to defend its airspace from unauthorized incursions.

3. I think you're right, he'll never make it to Venezuela
The jet will probably have an "unexpected" impact with the terrain, at least that's how we dealt with this sort of "problem" in my day.

Oops, I've said too much, Move along, nothing to see here.:hide:
