Biden Says He Will Seek Democratic Presidential Nomination in '08
Delaware Senator Joe Biden has his eye on the white house again. He told CBS' Face the Nation he will seek the democratic presidential nomination in three years.

It wasn't a formal announcement, but Biden made it pretty clear.

"My intention now is to seek the nomination."

The outspoken ranking democrat on the foreign relations committee says you can expect to see him on the road, putting his ideas out there and testing the water.

87. Please not Hillary either
I want to see Biden lose, and lose bad, but Hillary would not make a good President. We need someone who opposes the war in Iraq. Of the possible candidates I have heard so far the only ones I could consider are Feingold, Kucinich, Conyers, or Boxer.

He has SO blown any chance he ever had that it isn't even funny.

Edited: Actually, AFAIC, the Bankruptcy vote ALONE takes him right outta contention, but he's such a pathetic excuse for a Senator that that's just ONE of many.

He is so friggin weak and has been kissing the collective asses of the BFEE for so long now, I forget he is a member of the democratic party.

He won't get the nomination, he would be wise to spend his energies and efforts in other ways. :argh:

From most of what I've seen from Biden, he's a fighter. Anyone remember when he chewed Wofowitz out for not abiding by the Geneva Conventions? He said we need to so that people like his son (he's the only congressman with a kid in the military), if captured, will be given the same respect America does.

screw biden

just because he makes one or two good speeches does NOT mean he is a good candidate

One of the biggest gripes is the bribe, er, contributions he gets from MBNA, the largest repuke contributer, to vote for the bankrupcy legislation

no more excuse that they all do it. We had better stand for something more or we don't deserve to win

35. Fighter? No.
He's all bark and no bite. Well, some bark. Mostly he barks at other Democrats.

And it was Ashcroft he berated, not Wolfowitz.

Biden on Alberto Gonzales: "I think he's a pretty solid guy." To Biden's credit, he did eventually vote against Gonzales in the full senate, but this was after he was called on the carpet for showboating in Rice's confirmation hearing even as he acknowledged that he was going to vote to confirm her.

I could think of numerous examples of this type of behavior, but I'll leave that to others.

130. Joe's son is an atty in Natl Guard - wkend warrior w/political ambitions
We Delawareans believe Joe may imply his son is in danger of Iraq but it's all a set-up for Beau's political future here. Seems the Biden's want to create their own little Delaware political father/son act.

I did find one online site stating Beau was in Iraq but that's incorrect. Here are some details:
=============================================
Upcoming 2006 Elections:

For ATTORNEY GENERAL:
Currently M. Jane Brady (R)* - (Campaign Site)

Joseph "Beau" Biden III (D) - Attorney, National Guard Veteran & Son of US Sen. Biden

http://www.politics1.com/de.htm

Feb. 09, 2005
Wilmington lawyer Joseph R. "Beau" Biden 3d said his father wasn't any different at home.

"I've grown up with it," the younger Biden said. "At the dinner table. Playing football with my friends. On C-Span. That's the way he is."

Speech? Speech?

Joseph R. "Beau" Biden III flew solo the other night, speaking for himself and not for his father-the-senator when he keynoted the Sussex County Democrats' spring dinner in Seaford.

IT'S FATHER-AND-SON POLITICS FOR THE BIDENS
By Celia Cohen
Grapevine Political Writer

U.S. Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. is out there making the political headlines he always does in an election season, but this time his son Joseph R. "Beau" Biden III is turning up increasingly in the fine print.

Joe and Beau. Joe Biden is two years into his sixth term, a state record, and so much a part of the national Democratic constellation that he keeps getting mentioned for secretary of state if John F. Kerry can pull this election out. Beau Biden is a Wilmington lawyer, a former federal prosecutor almost universally regarded as being on the threshold of his own political career.

(snip)
Almost standard these days, Joe Biden invoked Beau Biden's name as a means of personalizing why foreign policy is so critical in the presidential election. Beau Biden is a lieutenant in the Delaware Army National Guard, and Joe Biden said the decisions the country makes will determine whether his son goes to Iraq and gets the support he needs if he does.

http://www.delawaregrapevine.com/10-04joe&beau.asp

? Early 2005 ?
Also, regardless of what you think of Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE), it's undeniable that he helped to pin the bars on his son, Beau Biden, who is a member of the Delaware Army National Guard (there's a picture of him being sworn in here). Although Beau isn't in the line of fire (he is currently practicing as a judge advocate), he is a military serviceman nonetheless.

? Late 2004 ?
Delaware Senator Joseph Biden's son Beau is on active duty; although Beau Biden has no control over he is deployed, he has not been sent to Iraq...

This fucking thug seems to support the Bushie/Neo-con world view, in terms of foreign policy. The exact content escapes me at the moment, but I recall him making some rather hawkish remarks a couple months back that had this whole board angry.

Besides, this guy voted for the bankruptcy bill. No true Democrat (supposedly an opposition party that stands up for the working class) would have voted for that shit.

43. well, that certainly gives me motivation to vote Green Party in 2008
biden is an "inside the beltway" democrat. one who has absolutely no idea of what life iis like n the rest of the country.

it had better be Gore, or Clark (and I'll hold my nose if its Clinton), or this fella' is returning to the wilderness of 20 plus years in third party politics from whence i came back in 2000 to vote for Gore and in 2004 for kerry.

I am beginning to hate democratic leaders almost as much as the GOP.

these god-damned fat cat democrats, wearing $500 shoes, $3,000 suits and living in $million homes are the antithesis of what I believe the democratic party stands for.

And that means Hillary too!

He's completely MBNA, corporate party agenda and Hillary helped
TATA, an outsourcing firm from India get established to suck
off high paying jobs out of the country. NY has lost hundreds of
thousands of high tech jobs. Hillary is chair of the India caucus...
you know the caucus that represents foreign interests in our lawmaking branch of our country?

The only problem we have is somehow counteracting the American people
buying into whatever big money propaganda campaign either of these
two launch.

That is the thing to tackle...how the American people will so easily
buy a lie as long as it's packaged up hollywood style and blasted

I admire the fact that his son, alone among what must hundreds of congressional sons and daughters, is serving in Iraq. BTW, did daddy vote for the war, and didn't I see him at the Conyers hearing rapping with the press about how he feels duped because the admin lied about the justification for the war and how silly he feels because the rest of the nation realized they were lying but he didn't figure it out until his son was over there, and how he's sponsoring legislation to end the war now and....

sorry. wrong Joe. Biden was busy lubing the collective consumer rectum for another pronging by corporate america.

The kind that acts like a republican? Then what's the point?

I seldom voted Democrat until last year. I have no problem going back to my old ways if someone like Biden were to get the nomination. Fortunately, watching the Dems in action lately makes me think that there is no way Biden would get through primaries.

As if he couldn't.

95. 20 years ago, I briefly supported you
even looked the other way at the initial plagerism items. Then Bork happened (and you were good) - and then due to the backlash - you eased up during Thomas... and turned into someone who sometimes gives really tough rhetoric - but in the end plays the political safe calculus - at times at the expense of both the party, and of the American public. Sorry Joe - you had your time in the sun, your opportunity - and even then your judgement was... oh come on - taking the words of a not so strong labor leader - not King, not Kennedy, not someone who stirred great movements... should have known then... geez the guy doesn't even reach high on whose words to copy and use as one's own.

All this aside, if it were between Biden and Bayh, as one of Bayh's constituents - I would chose Biden, in a minute. Biden is better, wiser, even if he isn't too good at the real politik thing.

105. Joe, I'll be happy to vote for you for senator but....
....don't even go down that path.

Hey, we're Delaware and let's face it - Delaware IS the credit card industry (hell, at least we're not Chemopetrochemical state of New Jersey - :eyes: ).

I'll vote for Joe for senator any day of the week because he's a decent guy, he's pro-choice, most of the time he doesn't thoroughly piss me off (stressiing 'most of the time') and finally because in the state of Delaware he'll pretty much have that seat until he retires and his son Beau takes over. To be honest, the democratic party is pretty lame in Delaware which is why I end up campaigning in neighboring states.

Anyhow, let's imagine I'm NOT from Delaware AND that Joe Biden hasn't pissed off 99% of DUers. I still wouldn't vote for the guy for president because like Gore and Kerry before him - he's a stiffass boring drone. He'll whiz you with all the technical jargons and statistics - but he'll bore the hell out of the rest of the country that just wants to drive their kids to soccer practice and watch NASCAR racing.

So Joe, good luck with your bid for re-election in 2008 for SENATOR, but seriously - please give it up. I have limits to how much I will support you!

138. Not a chance
This guy is a bought-and-paid-for whore of special interest money, and a Bush shill to boot. I'd walk over ground glass before he'd get my vote.

140. Biden wants to seek Democratic nomination for president
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/06/20/biden.2008.ap/">http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/06/20/biden.2008.ap/

"Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Delaware, said Sunday he intends to run for president in 2008.

But Biden, who also sought the nomination in 1988, said he would give himself until the end of this year to determine if he really can raise enough money and attract enough support.

Going after the nomination "is a real possibility," he said on CBS' "Face the Nation."

"My intention, as I sit here now, is, as I've proceeded since last November as if I were going to run. I'm quite frankly going out, seeing whether I can gather the kind of support," Biden said..."

141. Biden will provide us some laughes. He'll be Joemomentum 2008
Maybe he is behind the credit card info thefts. This way he can charge his campaign bills to these stolent credit cards. First a plagerizer, not an identity thief/Prez candidate. Who'd a thought.

142. Biden also added...
"I believe in the tooth fairy. I believe my nose is a weapon of mass destruction. I believe that you spell G-d 'MBNA'. I believe that after having a president with no original ideas for eight years, this country is finally ready for a president who can recognize a good idea and steal it."

Reporters, so taken aback by Biden's apparent honesty, left the room shaking their heads.

dream on little dreamer, dream on.

Last time he "borrowed" another man's speech. Maybe this time around he can "borrow" another senator's voting record.

146. In a related story, Hell froze over today...
They installed a condom dispenser at the Vatican
Yasser Arafat said he'd never wear that hat again
The Germans gave every holocaust survivor a Mercedes-Benz
And the Tutsis and the Hutus made amends

Hell froze over today
And I made good on several debts I never thought I'd have to pay
They discovered Jimmy Hoffa in a houseboat on Lake Erie
Someone proved conclusively the single bullet theory... was wrong

Woody Allen walked hand in hand with Louis Farrakhan
"Face The Nation" had Cindy Crawford and Bo Derek on
The earth fell out of its orbit and careened into the sun
And Bob Dole ran for President and won

Hell froze over today
And I made good on several debts I never thought I'd have to pay
They awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor to Timothy Leary
Someone proved conclusively the single bullet theory... was wrong

Uncle Sam made reparations for repressions great and small
By creating a society with liberty and dignity and equal opportunity and justice for all

Well, that "Earth Goddess" program on Channel 3 went national 2
Iran and Iraq became one country called Irrational
Every commuter in greater Los Angeles learned how to ride the bus
And the rich folks said, "Please tax the shit out of us."

Hell froze over today
And I made good on several debts I never thought I'd have to pay
They served something tasty and nutritious in a high school cafeteria
Someone proved conclusively the single bullet theory
Yeah, someone proved conclusively the single bullet theory... was wrong.

157. They are setting Biden up to be 2008's Lieberman.
Lieberman was supposed to scare us into Kerry's arms.

Biden is supposed to scare us into Hillary's.
