Bush's business support wavering
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/06/19/BUGMDD9B511.DTL

President Bush, working to gain support for his ambitious domestic agenda, is encountering increasing resistance from an unlikely place: American business, a usually reliable ally.

Many of these pro-Republican interests see little potential benefit for them in helping Bush win his two fights with the highest stakes: shoring up Social Security and reshaping the tax code.

Business interests still enthusiastically support a number of items on Bush's wish list, including a new energy policy, expanded trade and legal reforms meant to curb costly lawsuits and court settlements.

But "there is a much tougher row to hoe to keep the business community specifically supportive and united on the tax bill, on Social Security and other parts of the agenda," said Jade West, top lobbyist for the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors.

nervous they might not get their hands on all our money through "private accounnts" after all. :eyes:

4. It definitely seems to be falling apart...
Unchecked capitalism, like every other socioeconomic system before it that wasn't held in check, is doomed to fail at some point.

5. I own a small business
Believe me, George W. Bush has done me no favors. I enjoy baiting the faithful Republican small business owners in the neighborhood -- "gosh, how's that tax break working out for you now?" I'm only sorry I don't have an MP3 of the conversation between the hapless telemarketer from some small business association who was stupid enough to call my business last week and ask if I wanted to buy a ticket to a dinner with * and "local small businesspeople." Uh, that would not only be a "no," that would be a "hell, NO."

A stalling economy, price of wholesale goods going through the roof due to hikes in gas prices, and no end in sight. WOW, that * economy is really working out for me!

6. So, you talk to the other small business owners in your area?

Are they shrub voters (still)? I cannot figure it out if they still support him.

11. Oh, of course
>Are they shrub voters (still)?<

He's bringing Morality Back To The White House, you know. I'm tempted to ask some of them how moral it is to send someone else's child to die in a desert because * doesn't have the character or courage to admit that he lied, but hell, what do I know? Plus, he's not a flip-flopper.

They twist themselves into pretzels daily to continue their convoluted thought processes.

20. Absolutely. They believe that anything the GOP does is morally good,....
...and anything the Democrats do is morally bad.

It's all very simple for people that think like that.

19. My 6-yr-old recruiting business went down the tubes in late 2003...
...from 1997 until December 2000, I had clients who were calling me requesting my recruiting services. Things started to go downhill after December 2000 when my clients started to slow down their hiring. Those same clients weren't calling anymore, but they were still willing to talk to me if I called them.

After 911, the phone may as well been a paperweight because my clients stopped returning my calls. The next two years were a nightmare as we ran up our personal indebtedness to keep the business afloat. Sometime over the next few weeks, our Chapter 7 will be completed.

Yes, I also have reasons other than purely political to really dislike Herr Busch and the NeoCons that support him.

8. George Bush Killed Our Brand
The brand of America used to mean something in the world (and world markets).
Thanks to the Idiot-son frat-boy-fascist c-student commander-in-cheap
the value of our country is in the toilet... and with it the value of our products,
services, companies... and our labor. If this was a board room, Bush
would be summarily shit-canned for incompetent management and gross
negligence and corporate fraud to start. George.. you're so fuckin' fired.

10. I agree 100%...
There used to be some countries that respected us...I believe that
now the United States of America is universally hated, and with good
reason, because of the Bush administration.
He's not only screwed up foreign relations, he's screwed every
working American.
Worst pResident ever. And the people who voted for him are completely
clueless. Amazing. The sheeple are getting the government they deserve.
Unfortunately, you and I are getting a government we don't deserve.
I sent an e-mail to my House Rep today (he's a repug) about what
a disaster this administration is, and I don't think he'll respond
to my mail, but I think that if enough of us keep sending our
thoughts to them, they'll eventually catch on.
We must keep the pressure on.

13. Don't kid yourself. It's the corporations that are WRITING these policies
and directing their hired hands....Cheney, Bush, et al. They've had a hay day and have gotten so much. So why would they fire someone who is dutifully following orders?

Read their plan (PNAC)....everything is on track with the exception of the current Iraq problems. That plan was developed with corporation profits in mind.

14. I live in Europe - and that is so true!
People consider American stuff cheap and tacky. When I moved here 3 years ago people were still wearing USA t-shirts but haven't seen much since the Iraq war.

12. If they're not yet...
they f**king will be when that new bankruptcy code is implemented! MANY small businesses that I know are financed via credit cards. It was simply easier and CHEAPER to do so than to borrow from a banker.
Economy down + Credit debt up = TROUBLE

Before the Second Selection, The Economist, The Financial Times, and Business Week all endorsed . . . Kerry. Too bad the corporatists didn't read those editorials.

18. Is it possible that if it comes to it, the Repuguglies will sacrifice * on
the altar of impeachment and allow Cheney to assume the throne.

They might just realize his usefulness is up, and cut their loses, then they'll be able to rule as usual with Darth Dick in the catbird seat.

Just a thought. We need to find a way to impeach all of them, right down the chain of succession. I don't want Denny Hastert for Prez either.
