Rice Says Iraq Never Disarmed
WASHINGTON - President Bush, facing growing doubts about his handling of postwar Iraq, launched a new public relations campaign to convince Americans his course is the correct one. His national security adviser insisted Wednesday that Saddam Hussein harbored ambitions to use unconventional weapons — even though none has been found.

Condoleezza Rice told a foreign policy forum in Chicago that the team led by chief U.S. weapons hunter David Kay "is finding proof that Iraq never disarmed and never complied with U.N. inspectors."

In fact, she suggested, if the U.N. Security Council knew last winter what Kay's group has uncovered now, it never would have rejected the U.S. call for war.

"Right up until the end, Saddam lied to the Security Council. And let there be no mistake, right up to the end, Saddam Hussein continued to harbor ambitions to threaten the world with weapons of mass destruction and to hide his illegal weapons activity," she told the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations.

33. S what did Kay find out that would have changed dissenters minds?
Are we saying that any country we don't like or that resources that we want should totally diarm because we tell it to. 'Lay down your arms so that we can invade with the least risk?'

If anything, every Arab nation should be arming to the teeth to defend against invading US/UK/and Israeli forces. After Iraq and the Israeli bombing of Syria, any "terrorist" attacks on western countries should just be viewed as 'preemptive defense.'

4. The new PR campaign started today
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 01:06 PM by sweet_scotia
"We're going to have a lot more resources when that passes," said McClellan. "We want to, here in Washington, help assist the Pentagon (news - web sites) and the Coalition Provisional Authority to put those resources to the best possible use."

The memo gives National Security Council teams direct oversight in four areas: counterterrorism, economic issues, political issues and the media. The Pentagon and Coalition Provisional Authority will continue to play the lead role, but the order gives the White House a strong oversight responsibility, officials said.

SH was witholding his weapons of mass destruction, not his ambitions to have them. This is just more BS spin, like the vial of (?)bio-toxins they "found" from 1993 in some scientist's refrigerator. Hasn't been touched in a decade, but "was ready to be used" in WMD. What a load of crap. They invaded because they wanted the oil and because Iraq was trading it in Euros, not dollars.

The end? Huh? We've "ended" Saddam by capturing him, or killing him? That's news to me.

Also, Condi (you moron-in-charge-of-security-on-9-11-01), this Iraq invasion (war) is just getting warmed up. No end in site.

WHY IS THIS STUPID, STUPID WOMAN NOW TAKING ON A GREATER LEADING ROLE IN THIS DEBACLE IN IRAQ?

After all the death on 9.11.01 (way to leave us vulnerable on that day, Doctor Rice) and this botched invasion, why does this woman still have a job?

22. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong….
But, before the invasion, it was all about the physical stuff. Afterwards, it was all about the programs. A couple of months later, it was in light of 9/11 and the world is better off now. Now we’re looking into the mind of this evil man and we just know he had sinister aspirations concerning the world.

My guess, in a month or two, the new talking point will be the evilness of a secular government. Without gawd in state affairs, Iraq was as evil as Russia during the cold war. But then, that might run counter to the Christian propaganda that Islam is just as evil…but I’m sure they’ll try to spin that in some fashion…

36. All I want to know is the REAL source of the phony intelligence!!
Who are we protecting? Surely if the real source of such erroneous and false intelligence were our friends the Germans or French, the US media would be blasting it all over the place ad nauseum and FOX would be relentless about it. Even if it was the UK or Istaly. My theory is that we would only go to this length to keep the sources unknown if it were our own CIA or Mossad. My bet is on Mossad because this administration would love to further debase the CIA since they have been trying to blame 9/11 and the bad intelligence on the CIA and FBI. My bet is that it was the unquestioned and never vetted intelligence from our good friends the Israeli Mossad that was the source, if not the originator, of all the bad intelligence that we received about Iraq and now about Syria and Iran. The silence of the media about this is deafening!

These people are dangerously unstable. They believe black is white and white is mauve.

Here's what concerns me the most about this whole "Iraq Propaganda Tour '03!!" approach that disturbs me:

Bush at times will reach beyond the Washington media to try to drive his point home with regional and local press corps, the officials said. The United States is also beefing up press operations in Baghdad to provide more live video opportunities and greater access to U.S. and Iraqi officials.

Translation: exert control over the media to massage the masses' minds.

45. Harbor ambitions??
Can she make these speeches with a straight face anymore?

Let's see, we went from imminent threat and nuclear holocaust launched at the US within 45 minutes, not to mention 10 billion tons of anthrax, VX and other nasties loaded into illegal missiles aimed at Israel...

To, not an imminent threat and obviously no WMD used against the US invasion forces because Saddam couldn't get to them in time despite months of blustering by the Busihes or because he sent them to Syria so they would'nt be found....

To, there are weapons there buried all over the place, we just need time to find them given more time...

To, OK there may not be any actual caches of weapons, but there is evidence of weapons programs, despite the denials of all those scientists that Saddam wouldn't let us interrogate so we had to topple him to get access to them...

To, Saddam "harbored ambitions" of obtaining weapons of mass destruction, but had no actual weapons capabilities or active programs, not to mention no actual weapons.

Saddam may have been daydreaming about all the weapons he wanted to, how the hell does that even begin to justify the invasion of Iraq?? She is so pathetic!!

62. Hmm, That's Strange
The AP article on Yahoo has deleted the operative statment "Condoleezza Rice told a foreign policy forum in Chicago that the team led by chief U.S. weapons hunter David Kay 'is finding proof that Iraq never disarmed and never complied with U.N. inspectors.'"

68. where in the piece was that paragraph?
let's see her proof! also, do u think this quote

"Our own history should remind us that the union of democratic principle and practice is always a work in progress."

is really a subtle reminder of florida 2000, plus the threat that they're gonna do it again in 2004, nationwide, and that any of the librul media that dont get back onside are in for a roasting?
