Man suing Homeland Security over detentions

June 29, 2005

BY NATASHA KORECKI Federal Courts Reporter

He was stopped five times in 15 months at various ports of entry in the country, where he was shackled and body searched.

Now Akif Rahman, a U.S.-born Muslim who lives in suburban Wheaton, is joining with the American Civil Liberties Union to file a class-action lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security.

(snip)

Rahman, who owns a technology consulting business, said at a news conference Tuesday that he not only undergoes scrutiny, but outright harassment and excessive force at various airports and border crossings. During a customs check in Detroit, he was handcuffed to a chair for three hours and separated from his wife and two children for six hours.

1. Another example of the fact that Freedom and Democracy
have no place in this country. So the terrorists are winning, since they hate us for our freedoms. And by 'terrorists', I mean bushco.

3. I'm sure it was his name
Anyone who calls himself Akif Rahman is just asking to be nailed by Homeland Security goons. The fact that he is a born-in-the-USA American citizen appears to be irrelevant.

If he had an American sounding name like, say, Ted Kennedy... no, that doesn't seem to work either.

4. Immigrants and first generation foreign families are a large part of the
American high-tech, high-motivation economy. Associate these motivated people with this story: Most Adults in Idaho Overweight

6. You all should join the ACLU. It's the moral thing to do. Your country
needs you now. Look Satan in the eyes now before it's too late.
