Complaint Against Blunt Referred for Prosecution (MO [R] Gov.)
Missouri Ethics Commission finds probable cause that Blunt illegally failed to report in-kind contributions for use of tour bus
The Missouri Ethics Commission announced today that they have referred a complaint filed against Gov. Matt Blunt for violating Missouri’s campaign finance laws to the Attorney General’s office. This is believed to be the first time since the Ethics Commission was formed in 1993 that they have found probable cause to refer an ethics complaint against a sitting governor to a prosecutor.

The complaint, which was filed by the Missouri Democratic Party, charges that Matt Blunt failed to report an illegal in-kind contribution of a tour bus to his gubernatorial campaign by Mike Kehoe, who he recently appointed to the Highway Commission. Only after the ethics complaint was filed did Blunt’s campaign pay Kehoe for use of the tour bus. However, even then the campaign only paid a third of the bus’s fair market value, again constituting an illegal in-kind contribution well above the legal limit.

1. I rather like this
The complaint has been referred to the AG, which means that something has to be done, even if it's just an official whitewash. Any of our Missouri fellow travelers know anything about the state attorney general?

a Democrat who will not be affraid to take him on. He is also a popular AG. I believe he got more votes than Kerry did in MO.

5. I've always liked Jay Nixon. He appears to be a straight shooter.
I only wish that Baby Blunt would go down. WTF were people in this state thinking??????

Just look at his daddy, Roy. Wretched POS if there ever was one.

6. Well this about seals the deal
Boy Blunder is toast in '08, a one term wonder, if the Dems will only put up a decent candidate, somebody other than McCaskill. Maybe Roger Wilson would come out of retirement(that would be a blessing), or perhaps Nixon will get out of his comfy AG office and go for something further up the food chain.

Personally I would like to see Robin Carnahan(Mel's daughter) go for it. She is liberal, smart, has a good name, and would have the state behind her.

This isn't suprising, and Nixon will pursue it. If he went after Blunt on the Booneville Bridge, think about what he'll do now that he has a real live criminal charge.

The llegal in-kind contribution (from Mike Kehoe, who Blunt recently appointed to the Highway Commission) that Blunt failed to report from the outside.

8. Let me put this Blunt-ly...
Just because you're a greedy son of a Congressman doesn't give you the right to break the law.
