Sen. Edward Kennedy Helps Rescue Fishermen

HYANNIS, Mass. -- U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy attempted to rescue six men who had become trapped by high tide on a jetty off Hyannisport on Sunday...

Kennedy was walking his two dogs on the shore at 11:15 a.m. when he spotted the men cut off from shore by the rising waters. They had been fishing on a jetty that begins at the tip of the Kennedy compound.

Tides had risen over the patchy rocks, which made it difficult to walk back to shore.

Kennedy and a friend tried to rescue the men using a 13-foot boat but rough waters forced them back.

3. well...
They'd just spurt off different attempts at Chappaquiddick jokes with tourettes like reflexivity because it's you know, related to water and Ted Kenendy, and they didn't even need the part about it being related to water. They're frigging automatic, they're drones.

12. It's amazing how those fweepers have such long memories for Dem troubles.
And yet Reagan and Elder bush, Iran Contra, nope, those things don't matter at all. Nearly 2,000 U.S. soldiers dead in Iraq? That means nothing compared to Kennedy's passenger.

The fweepers forget that Kennedy was a relatively young man when all this happened. He was disoriented and he panicked. The fweeper "compassionate conservatives" don't believe in forgiveness. They just believe in overlooking their own wrongdoings.

17. I think he very well could have been drugged
I mean by someone at the party (Ok that may sound tinfoil but that is what I think)

Kennedy curse my ass...recall also the plane crash that almost killed Ted.

2. This means his water accident karma is zero
How will the right spin it?

"The net lives affected positively by Ted Kennedy and his car is less than the number of lives my gun could have taken but didn't."

6. You're right about that...
...even if Ted had single-handedly rescued those fishermen, all we would have heard from the Republican Noise Machine would have been endless re-hashes of Chappaquiddick.

7. Ted Kennedy is one of the most caring people i know of
he is probably my favorite Kennedy of all.

i know the right wing will spew the Chappaquidick thing but the difference between Kennedy and others is that Kennedy always supports giving people another chance and helping them. he doesn't judge and condemn them for life.i'm sure he feels a lot of guilt over Chappaquidick as any person of conscience would do. i'm glad he has dedicated his life to helping those in need.

14. Consistent man. Very brave. Look at all he's lost over the years and
he's still fighting for basic rights. He's on the floor of the Senate consistently working on Health Care and Minimum Wage issues, among others.

I worked for him in '80 when he gave up the dream of Presidency. He's a great guy. My boss at the time had been a speech writer for Bobby Kennedy. Being surrounded by those people was an education in itself. Even with the losing battle, it was a great time in my life.

You go, Ted!

And he grew up under such immense pressure to live up to the examples set by his brothers and the expectations of his father (who set some pretty bad examples for his sons, also)...I have such compassion for Teddy.

20. Shakespeare knew
The evil that men do lives after them.
The good is oft interred with their bones.

I find this so often true.

21. Consistantly Great
Kennedy is always there. Always the unwavering Democrat to vote against an appointment of some bafoon put up by the Repugs. Always the Democrat to stand up for the little guy, for education, for civil rights.

When he came to Davenport, Iowa, with Sen. Kerry I got to shake his hand. It was my honor.

When they introducted him and read his great bio of achievements the reader talked about how Kennedy always puts up the good fight ... I couldn't help myself, I yelled, "Thank you Ted!"

He smiled, pointed at me, and put up his dukes. He'll never quit fighting. Everyone cheered.

That's why the neocons HATE him. It's why they hated his brothers. He'll never stop fighting until the breath has left his body.

Long live Sen. Ted Kennedy!
