Senate Democrats Seek Delay on Pryor Vote
WASHINGTON -- Democrats on Wednesday asked for a delay of the final vote on Alabama Attorney General Bill Pryor's nomination to the U.S. Appeals Court so they can question him about fund-raising activities for a GOP attorneys general group.
Pryor wants a seat on the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, and the Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on his nomination on Thursday.
Pryor is one of the founders of the Republican Attorneys General Association, which raises money for GOP attorneys general. Pryor, at his confirmation hearing, told the committee that he had not lobbied tobacco companies or companies under investigation by his office.
Democrats say they have documents from the group showing Pryor may have been involved in some of the fund-raising activities that he denied.
