Talabani hints at 2006 troop withdrawal
Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said on Saturday that it may be possible to reach an agreement by the end of 2006 on the withdrawal of foreign troops from his country.

Speaking to reporters in Rome at the end of a week-long visit to Italy, Talabani said the Iraqis were training their police and soldiers to try to create the conditions for foreign troops to be able to leave.

"We are looking forward to the day we can say goodbye to the forces of the coalition," he said. "If things continue as they are I think by the end of 2006 we can discuss the end of the presence of foreign troops."

1. From what I'm hearings it's a done deal
They can't continue to sustain the levels they have. Troops will be comming home by next Spring...and the PublicCONS will be tell the people all's hunky dorey, "progressive" things happening, "Liberation" of Iraq is on course...just in time for primaries.

Things will heat up on the civii war, and the "good news" will be highlighted on the MSM about troops coming home in droves. Meanwhile, the 2006 elections will be coming and publiCON politicians will be hitting the stump with megaphones spewing how democracy has changed the Iraq. Meanwhile, the MSM will be silent how 175 people died in Iraq from a suicide bombing.

2. BBC: UK troops out of Iraq 'next year'

UK troops out of Iraq 'next year'

British troops could leave Iraq by the end of next year, the country's
president Jalal Talabani has predicted.

But he warned an immediate withdrawal of multinational forces rather
than a gradual one would be a "catastrophe" for Iraq and would lead to
civil war.
<snip>
"Within one year....Iraqi troops will be ready to replace British
forces in the south," he said.

Only last month the head of the British Army, General Sir Mike Jackson,
said it would be "foolhardy" to set a date for UK troops to pull out.

5. The American Oligarchy knows that the Occupation..
will not be able to to be sustained any longer than that. Most Dems have also signed on to this plan.

These troop, however, will remain.
