Three Suits Filed to Block Abortion Ban
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 31 -- Opponents of the congressional ban on "partial birth" abortions went to court Friday, filing three federal lawsuits seeking to block legislation that they say threatens the health and constitutional rights of women.

President Bush plans to sign the measure into law Wednesday.

"President Bush intends to put the health and welfare of women in jeopardy," said Dian Harrison of Planned Parenthood, whose group announced a lawsuit in San Francisco.

Friday's legal action was an unusual move by Planned Parenthood, the Center for Reproductive Rights and the American Civil Liberties Union, because the lawsuits were lodged before the measure became law.

"We want the judge to be in a position to issue an order as soon as the bill is signed," said Priscilla Smith, a lawyer for the Center for Reproductive Rights.

2. Dean is right.
The late-term abortion, which is really called, is a medically necessary procedure to save the mother's life if she is in danger.

Let me explain.

My sister, a strong Dem, having previously worked as an intern for the Clinton White House under Al Gore's leadership, has a rare blood disease, which makes each pregnancy difficult. She already has two children, one by Casearan (her first child), and the other one vaginally.

Although my sister practices birth control, but the chances of pregnancy is remote, so if she winds up pregnant, then the chances of her dying from that blood disease while delivering a baby increases tenfold, so the late-term abortion is necessary to save my sister's life if it is needed.

So I oppose late-term abortion bans, and I would like to see that illegal law removed under Roe v. Wade.

4. My, My! A pre-emptive strike against Terra*!
Wherever did these three groups get such an idea?

*The sort of Terra that comes wrapped in the Christian Flag, thumping its Old Testament and saving women from themselves.
