Veterans Call on Beauprez to Apologize
http://www.progressnowaction.org/page/community/post/al/CLkG

Denver - Veterans called on Congressman Bob Beauprez to apologize for publicly parading in a military-issued uniform when selective service records revealed that Beauprez avoided ever serving.

This photo of Congressman Bob Beauprez was taken at the Front Range Airport in Watkins, Colorado in June, 2004.

The Selective Service Classification History for Robert Louis Beauprez indicates that he requested and received three different student deferments:

"Mr. Beauprez appears to want it both ways: he publicly parades in a military-issued uniform, and yet the records show he never served," stated retired Staff Sergeant Michael D. Collins, a veteran who served in Vietnam with the 1st Air Calvary Division.

"While Beauprez claims he's for veterans, he has the worst voting record on veterans' issues of any of the Colorado members of Congress," noted Collins.

5. Don't make him apologize, make him SERVE in Iraq!
A 55 year old member of the National Guard was recently killed in Iraq, so he's not too old. If this guy likes wearing a uniform so much, he should go to Iraq.

How low can Army recruiters go?
By Fred Kaplan
Posted Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at 5:06 PM ET

Three months ago, I wrote that the war in Iraq was wrecking the U.S. Army, and since then the evidence has only mounted, steeply. Faced with repeated failures to meet its recruitment targets, the Army has had to lower its standards dramatically. First it relaxed restrictions against high-school drop-outs. Then it started letting in more applicants who score in the lowest third on the armed forces aptitude test—a group, known as Category IV recruits, who have been kept to exceedingly small numbers, as a matter of firm policy, for the past 20 years. (There is also a Category V—those who score in the lowest 10th percentile. They have always been ineligible for service in the armed forces and, presumably, always will be.)

The bad news is twofold. First, the number of Category IV recruits is starting to skyrocket. Second, a new study compellingly demonstrates that, in all realms of military activity, intelligence does matter. Smarter soldiers and units perform their tasks better; dumber ones do theirs worse.

What I can't figure out is when did they start wearing patches on flight suits?. All we ever wore was unit patch and name.

It amazes me that people in the military support these Republican pretenders.

You'd think they'd find their actions and their pandering to be profoundly insulting.

23. No, original author misspelled 'cavalry.'
These things happen -- I saw it in the Rocky Mountain News the other day.

If it's any consolation, the vet in question didn't do it, and the one who did has been duly castigated. :)

14. typical military wannabe repub politician/liar
When we needed his ass on the line, he gets three deferments. You had to have pretty good pull with powerful people to get three of them babies at that time.
Just like george II, this wannabe has to play military dress up to make him feel like a tough guy. Make believe doesn't count, bobby boy. I certainly hope that this picture, along with the truth behind it, appears on the front page of every Colorado paper. The voters of his district can then let him know in the voting booth what they think of liars/posers.
Asshole.

25. YEAH! This will hurt his gov. run!
I've met with Beauprez several times to try to get him to vote for increased funding for school food service programs (eliminating the "reduced" category - you're either "free" or "paid.") He wouldn't do it. He believes parents should feed their kids, like his momma did for him back on the farm.

'Course, his momma had MONEY.
