SADDAM Hussein might have distributed his AWB Ltd kickbacks to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers, Federal Opposition frontbencher Kevin Rudd said yesterday.

Mr Rudd said Australians knew AWB had paid $300 million into the former Iraqi leader's slush fund but had not been told how it had been spent.

Yet the United States Congress was told 15 months ago that Saddam had rewarded the families of suicide bombers with $33,000 payouts.

The Cole inquiry will hear evidence from a second company whistleblower this week and might also begin questioning government officials about the Iraq wheat trading scandal.
