Abramoff says he met Bush "almost a dozen" times
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060209/pl_nm/crime_abramoff_dc_2

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Jack Abramoff said in correspondence made public on Thursday that President Bush met him "almost a dozen" times, disputing White House claims Bush did not know the former lobbyist at the center of a corruption scandal.

"The guy saw me in almost a dozen settings, and joked with me about a bunch of things, including details of my kids. Perhaps he has forgotten everything, who knows," Abramoff wrote in an e-mail to Kim Eisler, national editor for the Washingtonian magazine.

Abramoff added that Bush also once invited him to his Texas ranch.

The messages were made public by the American Progress Action Fund, a liberal activist group. Eisler confirmed their accuracy to Reuters but said he did not intend them to become public.

35. Answer to your question
The records from Abramoff's firm, obtained by The Associated Press from the Marianas under an open records request, chronicle Abramoff's careful cultivation of relations with Bush's political team as far back as 1997.

In that year, Abramoff charged the Marianas for getting then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush to write a letter expressing support for the Pacific territory's school choice proposal, his billing records show.

"I hope you will keep my office informed on the progress of this initiative," Bush wrote in a July 18, 1997, letter praising the islands' school plan and copying in an Abramoff deputy.

White House spokeswoman Erin Healy said Thursday that Bush didn't consider Abramoff a friend. "They may have met on occasion, but the president does not know him," she said.

These people are totally crazed and desperate. They better be coming up with some diversions. Between this guy and Libby squealing on Cheney, well what can I say? It's been a bad day for the bush** administration liars.

10. te he--Scott M. response is funny:

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said on Thursday that the revelations did not prove Bush knew him well.

"I think as the president also indicated, he's taken at least five photos with many people in this room at the annual holiday reception. And so I think you need to put this in context," McClellan said.

Abramoff spokesman Andrew Blum declined to comment.

Abramoff raised more than $100,000 for Bush's 2004 re-election campaign, a feat that won him an invitation to Bush's ranch in August 2003, the National Journal reported at the time.

Yeah. MY ASS he doesn't know THIS particular Jack. If ANYBODY was out there generating six-figures for bush or anybody in his precious GOP, it's a VERY safe bet that he knew this guy. Probably intimately. Doesn't 100-thousand dollars raised qualify him for "bush Pioneer" status?

17. includes the two Bush Administration people involved.

......Although the Abramoff scandal has mostly focused attention so far on prominent House Republicans, including former Majority Leader
Tom DeLay of Texas, at least two Bush administration officials have been implicated.

David Safavian, a former White House budget official, has been charged with lying and obstructing investigations into his 2002 golf outing to Scotland with Abramoff.

Stephen Griles, the former No. 2 official at the Interior Department, has come under scrutiny after allegations he tried to block a casino at Abramoff's request.

Do you suppose bush joked with Abramoff about the same things he joked with his father about?

For those who don't know the story, bush was once asked by a reporter what he and his dad talked about in private between themselves, and bush responded, "Pussy." A real class act. :eyes:

...there are still millions of people who only have access to FOX who voted for this guy and they believe he is honest--not so smart maybe--but honest.

But this Abramoff thing is easy for them to get--if we somehow get through to them. "Look, people, your darling folksy pres denies ever knowing a good buddy of his who came to his BBQ's. This is a lie."

I wonder what his Bushie nickname is.
