Bond: Attention is hurting surveillance effort

Associated Press

ST. LOUIS - The terrorist surveillance program could be destroyed if investigations and discussion by the media continue, Sen. Kit Bond said Monday.

The Missouri Republican and Senate Intelligence Committee member said he felt it was time to speak out before more details of the National Security Agency's program are released, potentially compromising it.

"The only way we have of stopping further attacks is by fortified intelligence," Bond said at a news conference at Lambert Airport in St. Louis.

...

Bond said other presidents, including Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter and Franklin Roosevelt, have used their authority to gather intelligence through wiretapping.

2. Right - because the terrorists would never have guessed

8. Too much investigation could keep Kit Bond from appearing drunk
every time he shows up in public.

12. It's called a democracy, Mr. Bond
Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the difference between a democracy dedicated to liberty and freedom, and a fascist regime intent on repressing rights. Although from your comments it's apparent that you're much more ideologically at home with Kim Jong-Il than with Thomas Jefferson. Maybe you'd feel better being a Senator in North Korea, Mr. Bond?
