Huckabee slams ethics complaint process

By ANDREW DEMILLO
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Gov. Mike Huckabee, facing a hearing on an ethics complaint against him, complained that such complaints are too easy to make.

"The way the system is now, for a 39-cent stamp you can, in essence, put in motion a complaint that causes an investigation ... and ultimately invoke thousands of dollars in expenses for nothing more than to get a newspaper headline," the Republican said Thursday.

The state Ethics Commission had been expected to meet in confidential session Friday to hear the complaint by Democrat Drew Pritt, who is running for lieutenant governor. But Pritt said he received a letter early Friday saying the hearing was delayed until March.

Pritt alleged in December that Huckabee used state computers to send e-mail messages about the Dec. 13 bond election for roads and schools. The bond issues failed.

1. That's par for the course, isn't it. Instead of addressing the
problem to determine who's right or wrong, you blame the process that is designed to make sure you follow the rules.

2. He got the office because of Tucker resigning
so he's quite aware how vulnerable the Ark Gov can be.

4. Tucker didn't really "resign"
Edited on Sat Feb-18-06 09:45 AM by Art_from_Ark
He was forced out by Ken Starr's witch hunt, based on the testimony of two known liars. If a Democrat had been lieutenant governor at the time, Starr would have left Tucker alone. They went after Tucker to embarass Clinton, and because Huckabee was a Republican party hack and lieutenant governor who would be first in line to take over Tucker's job.

3. This turd has presidential ambitions...
He has his eye on the prize and he surely doesn't want anything, or anyone messing it up for him.

Huckster, I hope the chickens are coming home to roost for you! :grr:

5. I heard Republicans in Alaska made it illegal to file Ethics complaints.
I have a friend who lives in Alaska and he told me the Republican Legislature passed a law making it illegal with a fine of five thousand dollars to file an ethics charge. Why didn't Congress think of this?
