US barbarism just like Saddam: Bin Laden
Osama bin Laden has accused US forces of "barbaric" acts in Iraq comparable to those committed by Saddam Hussein.

The comments were contained in an audio tape first broadcast in January that has now been posted on the internet in full.

"The (US) criminality has gone as far as raping women and holding them hostage before their husbands ... as for the torture of men it has now come to the use of burning chemical acids and electric drills in their joints," he said in the tape posted with an English-language voice over.

"Despite all these barbaric methods ... the mujahideen are strengthening and increasing by the grace of Allah," he said.

USA is WORSE than Hussein.

Iraqis are WORSE OFF NOW than they were under Hussein.

USA holding MORE prisoners in Iraq than ever held under Hussein.

And where are the "millions" and/or "300,000" or is it "200,000" in them mass graves no one seems to be able to find. I mean the mass graves with remains WITHOUT the US tank treads on them.

285,000 Iraqis killed by the USA in 18 months.

Hmmmm.

And we're supposed to be the "good guys".

6. Well, hopefully...
...not too many people will be bothered by what Bin Laden says about the USA. The enemy doesn't usually have great things to say about their opponents at war...

13. Well, to be perfectly fair...
Edited on Sun Feb-19-06 11:57 PM by A New Fairness Here
I can't say I've seen a world-wide survey on the subject, so I personally can't state what the collective feeling is. It may, or may not, be quite different than what the media reports. Remember, their goal is to attract a large audience that will buy newspapers and watch sponsored ads. Accurate reporting is NOT their main goal, in fact, it's in THEIR best interest if they foster a lot of controversy--which exaggeration and sensationalism can only help.

18. Honesty would require
us to consider the nature of the accusations. I find them convincing and accurate based on my own knowledge of events and non-MSM sources. The media in all its supposed sloth/evil is not responsible for OBL's comments. Bush is. And as far as worldwide sentiment is concerned, I'll take odds on any bet that claims the world feels any other way than saddened, ashamed and or angry at the Useless A.

21. Oh, I understand how you feel...
Many people here believe that same way. Most desperately WANT those things to BE true, and they've convinced themselves they ARE true--even when the question is virtually impossible to answer and/or they've done none of the research it would take to provide any true answers.
Telling ourselves 'the whole world feels this way!' is tremendously comforting--it validates our feelings and we don't feel so alone.

I know we've ALL felt that way, at one time or another! ;)

29. Actually,
I travel internationally with frequency and I have had many polite but frank inquiries about the USA and its illegal war in Iraq and its crusade against Muslims...it is very hard not to think that much of the world loathes the Useless A when it seems the most commonly expressed sentiment. You have no idea what many people here believe, frankly, only what they say and what you believe. Maybe it is not the "whole world", but enough of its inhabitants feel this way and it will take 20 years to fix...whatever wishful thinking you engage in.

15. Again...
I don't know what the world knows or doesn't know. I've never seen any surveys on the subject, nor tests, polls, or research done. If you can point me in the direction where there IS some, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I'd have a really hard time thinking I could guess, or estimate, how billions of people really felt.

24. A recent survey on whether countries' infleunces are positive or negative
Iran was the most negatively viewed, followed by the USA, then Russia, China, India, UK, and France, with Japan the most positively viewed of all. "Europe" was positively viewed by all countries.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/4674656.stm

More countries had a negative view of the USA than ones with a positive view. Nearly 40,000 people in 33 nations were surveyed.

This is a pattern of theirs, to resurrect bin Laden whenever it is convenient for them.

12. Excerpt from longer AP version:
In the full tape that was posted Monday, bin Laden engaged in renewed propaganda, mocking President Bush’s aircraft carrier declaration in April 2003 that major conflict in Iraq had ended.

Speaking directly to the American people, the speaker said:

“You can rescue whatever you can from this hell. The solution is in your hands, if their (U.S. troops’) situation matters to you at all.”

The initial excerpts had been the first tape from the al-Qaida leader in more than a year — the longest period without a message since the Sept. 11 2001 suicide hijackings in the United States.

23. Yep, all going according to plan for a war in the next month.
Strange how the prospect of a non-dollar oil bourse seems to
trigger all sorts of propaganda to justify imperial murder.

Yet there are still people who refuse to accept the truth,
choosing to place their trust in their "elected" president.

26. says OBL appears to disassociate his group with SH

US officials have often accused Saddam of links to al-Qaeda, one of the reasons of the US-led war on Iraq which was chiefly based on allegations Iraq was developing weapons of mass destruction.

Bin Laden's remarks appeared to disassociate his group from Saddam's regime.

He said Washington was trying to muffle any media outlet that reports the truth about the losses of US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Commenting on British newspaper report in a November that US President George W Bush had mulled bombing Al Jazeera's head office, the Saudi-born militant called Bush the "butcher of freedom" and criticised the prominent Arab television and the leaders of its host country, Qatar.
