Detained Egypt, Saudi suspects lynched in Iraq second city
Eleven suspected foreign fighters from Egypt and Saudi Arabia were seized by gunmen from a prison in Iraq's largely Shiite second city of Basra Wednesday and all but one of them lynched, police said.

The bodies of three of them were found in the city centre close to the offices of the state-owned South Oil Company.

The corpses of another seven were found in a southwestern neighbourhood of Basra.

The attack on the suspected Sunni militants came amid a wave of anger across Shiite central and southern Iraq over a bomb attack on one of Shiite Islam's holiest shrines.

20. You didn't read the article, did you?
"Among those killed in the apparent reprisal attack for the bombing of a major Shi'ite shrine earlier in the day were two Egyptians, police sources said. The others were Iraqis."

Out of the 11 killed, 9 were Iraqis.

BASRA, Iraq (Reuters) - Gunmen in police uniforms seized 11 Sunni men suspected of being insurgents from a prison in the mainly Shi'ite city of Basra in southern Iraq on Wednesday and later killed them, police said.

Among those killed in the apparent reprisal attack for the bombing of a major Shi'ite shrine earlier in the day were two Egyptians, police sources said. The other nine were Iraqis.

The attackers arrived in a convoy of 16 cars.

All 11 prisoners were found dead later with gunshot wounds.

Six bodies were found in Republic Street in Basra. Three were discovered in the Sekak district of the city. The other two were found in Leader Street.

16. al quada cannot survive in open with a hostile local population;
particularly a hostile middle eastern population that can easily discern a foriegn fighter from an Iraqis. Good for the Iraqis to start killing al quada because we sure have been doing a piss poor job at it.

21. of course i do, local iraqis kill al quada all the time, they are better
at it than we are. That's why the idea that we have to stay there to keep Iraq from being an Al quada haven is a joke.
