BUSH SAYS COMPONENTS FROM IRAN INCREASINGLY MAKE UP BOMBS FOR IRAQI INSURGENTS

Bush says some Iraqi bombs made in Iran

WASHINGTON, March 13 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush accused Iran on Monday of contributing to the unrest in Iraq, saying some of the homemade bombs that are wreaking havoc in the country came from that Iraq's eastern neighbor.

Locked in a test of wills with Iran over its nuclear ambitions, Bush said during a speech about the Iraq war that "some of the most powerful IEDs (improvised explosive devices) we are seeing in Iraq today include components that came from Iran."

...

Quoting his national intelligence director John Negroponte, Bush said Iran has been responsible for at least some of the increasing lethality of attacks in Iraq.

"Coalition forces have seized IEDs and components that were clearly produced in Iran," Bush said.

1. Your point, George?
What are you going to do about it? Attack Iran? Sure, that'll go well. We can't handle Iraq, what makes you think we can handle Iran TOO?

God, what an idiot.

5. What? They finally ran through the 380 tons of explosives
that we let them get from the unattended ammo dump south of Baghdad?

Do they really think ANYONE is going to believe this?

6. Oh Boy
I can't believe one thing that any person in this administration says. I've been lied to so many times.

I'd think that we left enough unguarded explosives around that they wouldn't run out for many years to come.

I call bullshit on this.

8. Hmm...the government of Iran stands to inherit Iraq by proxy
...so why would they arm the insurgents fighting against the militias and factions they openly support? (ie., Dawa Party, SCIRI, Badr Brigades, etc...)

If they said *Syria* was supplying the Iraqi insurgents, at least it would make more sense -- I don't think they are either, but at least it would be a more plausible lie.

10. Which Bombs? Iranians are Shiites, they would not support Sunnis
This is really absurd. Iran was at war with Saddam Hussein for 8 years. They hate the Sunni-hussein faction that appears to make up the majority of the resistance. The Iranians are closely allied with the Shiite leaders in Iraq.

For this statement to be a true at all, it would have to mean that the Iranians are arming the government-connected Shiite death squads.

... we took out their worst enemy in the region and then got our balls caught in a wringer.

Worst strategic defeat since Vietnam, and this one is actually going to have repercussions for us, unlike losing Vietnam... Bush is the worst president ever, period.

Tons of Iraq explosives missing

CNN) -- Some 380 tons of explosives powerful enough to detonate nuclear warheads are missing from a former Iraqi military facility that was supposed to be under American control, the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog agency says.

18. The Pretext for an Iran Attack
I just now posted this on my web site!

Earthside Comments: It just doesn't sound good.

The first link reports that Field Marshall von Rumsfeld and Commandant 'Pollyanna' Peter Pace are laying the ground work for the proximate pretext for suddenly and deliberately attacking Iran. The cooked-up nuclear weapons story, we think, is just to create an atmosphere of fear and a general feeling that Iran needs to be 'taken care of'.

But it will be Iranians 'caught' (who will ever know?) killing or wounding American soldiers that will precepitate a Bush order to swiftly retaliate -- no time to get Congressional approval.

The second link is to an article the explains just how serious will be an American attack on Iran.

And, two links to a news report about von Rumsfeld and 'Pollyanna' Pace saying last Friday basically what Bush just said. I also linked to a good article about iran that appeared today at TomPaine.com.

I'm tellin' ya ... the radicals are going to bomb Iran ... it's coming!

Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 02:47 PM by alcibiades_mystery
Gimme a break.

:eyes:

Here's where the components come from: From the massive stockpiles and armories that you left unattended because you thought you were playing risk. From the thousand and one mini-armories that your generals (who appear, forgive me, to be nothing more than a pack of bootlicking imbeciles) left unattended because they were playing fantasy war and imagining World War II, rather than attending to the specificity of this weirdo place called "Iraq." From thousands of international arms dealers, who have no quibbles about supplying the "Hajis" - as long as they put up some flow. From secret elements within the Russian and Chinese governments, who are, I assure you, lovin' every minute of it. From the Iranians, who would make out like bandits from a stabilized Iraq under Shia hegemony? Hardly fucking think so. Only a fucking propogandist liar and his completely stupefied followers would believe (or try to make us believe) anything that stupid.

29. ***PETITION TO SIGN: NO WAR WITH IRAN ***
Hello,

For the past year, the growing tensions mounting between the US, Israel, and Iran are reaching a point where military action against Iran is w/in months of becoming reality. The repercussions are terrifying as such military action could involve countries such as China and Russia as they share massive energy/economic interests w/ Iran. The most likely scenario we would face would be the collapse of the US economy as the combination of a massive rise in oil prices and a run on the US dollar would surely be the weapon many countries would use to fight back against a preemptive US or Israeli strike.

For a collection of articles and resources on this subject you can visit this link: http://reseaudesign.com/research/iran/iran_summery.html

I'm starting up a petition which I will be sending out to as many members of Congress as possible. I'm asking for help to get this signed by as many people, possible in the next month. Send it to as many people you can.

http://www.petitiononline.com/n0war1rn /

Also, here is another petition you can sign from another group:
http://stopwaroniran.org/statement.shtml

Thanks for your time
