Tourist ship 'sinks' in the Gulf

A ship carrying dozens of foreign tourists is feared to have sunk off the coast of Bahrain in the Gulf, local sources have said.

There were reports of a number of casualties, they said.

US helicopters, divers and small naval craft were on their way to the site of the reported accident to help with rescue operations.

Ambulances were heard rushing to the port from which the vessel had set off. More soon.

10. Big business
There is a big tourist industry in places like Barain and Dubai, they've got the Red Sea and they are stopovers going from Europe to Asia and Australasia.

Ferry carrying up to 150 people sinks in the Persian Gulf

MANAMA, Bahrain - A ferry carrying up to 150 people sank late Thursday in the Persian Gulf off the coast of Bahrain, the country's official news agency said. American divers and helicopters rushed to the scene.
The vessel was on an evening cruise that was to last several hours when it overturned less than a mile off the coast, the Bahrain News Agency reported.

The agency said Bahrain's coast guard boats arrived at the site and that rescue operations had begun. Television reports said there were casualties.

Cmdr. Jeff Breslau, a spokesman for the Bahrain-based Navy 5th fleet, said the U.S. personnel were en route, but had no other details.

rescue action going on in New Orleans at the drop of a hat, oh but I forget, all that equipment was already OVER THERE so they can save people faster..
