Dutch Lawmaker Quits, Set to Leave Nation
<snip>

"A Somali-born member of Parliament who became an internationally known opponent of fundamentalist Islam said Tuesday she will resign and leave the Netherlands because the government was revoking her citizenship for lying on an asylum application.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali has been under police protection since a film she wrote criticizing the treatment of women under Islam provoked the murder of its director, Theo van Gogh, by an Islamic radical.

She said she had made her decision Monday night, after Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk told her "she would strip me of my Dutch citizenship."

"I am therefore preparing to leave Holland," Hirsi Ali told reporters in The Hague, her voice choking with emotion. She declined to comment on what she will do next, or on Dutch media reports that she will join the Washington-based American Enterprise Institute."

3. Not everybody who works for AEI is a conservative
In fact, maybe her views would shake the place up a bit.

But given the fact that she was forced to leave her home and has been under constant police protection for almost two years, would you have done any less?

7. Citizenship
Edited on Tue May-16-06 03:49 PM by Jeroen
Hirsi Ali said on Dutch television that 'talented asylum seekers should be privileged (go first) over less talented asylum seekers'. In other words: she is more entitled to citizenship than someone who is less intelligent.

Anyway, this affair is all over the news in Holland because Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk is running to be elected as the new leader of her party (VVD – sort of Republican) Verdonk is promoting herself as a hardliner, the right person to keep the borders closed and kick out everyone who isn’t a cheese loving Dutch Christian, a popular image in a more and more xenophobic Holland. So, she decided to revoke the citizenship of her fellow party member for political gain.

My guess is that Hirsi Ali will not be involved with the American Enterprise Institute for long. Here, she is considered to be a left wing liberal.

8. She's a liar and a phony:
According to The Independent of London, the program features interviews with members of Ali's family who denied her story of a ducking out of an arranged marriage.

"The programme also alleged that, contrary to her claims of having fled a war zone in Somalia, the MP had lived in comfortable upper middle-class circumstances safely in Kenya for at least 12 years before she sought refugee status in the Netherlands in 1992. Her family home -- which is large and comfortable by Kenyan standards -- was shown in the programme."

12. She's a pawn.
A well paid pawn. She is of no value to European Christo-fascists anymore, she's been overused by her handlers. Now her name and her face have become a hindrance to the ultra-nationalists and neo-fascists in Europe and their interests. Everyone knows what and who she represents, so its time for her to move on. In US of A she is pretty unknown though.
