Details emerging after 17 terror arrests in Toronto (CBC)

Details began emerging Saturday of an RCMP raid east of Toronto in which 17 people were arrested Friday evening on terrorism-related charges.

Police said 12 adults and five young offenders have been charged with a number of terrorism offenders.

The RCMP said they "have arrested a number of individuals who were planning to commit a series of terror attacks against targets here in southern Ontario."

Officials said three tonnes of ammonium nitrate was found and they confirmed that the group attended a terrorism training camp.

4. Once again Homeland Security misses the boat.

The borders between America and it's Canadian and Mexican partners on this continent are the number one post-9/11 terrorist targets and the most simple to attack!

Just think about it, how do we cross our borders?

You pay a toll, cross the invaluable, nearly irreplaceable economic target of a bridge or tunnel, then everyone meekly lines up at the other side (or halfway across it, depending on the level of paranoia du jour), waiting for the Keystone Cops to check if you are delivering them a bomb! This worked once in Washington State in the LAX plot, it won't be happening again, Mr wiseguy Chernoff!!

Since 9/11 I have been crusading here in Detroit/Windsor for a simple "trading spaces" exchange of border inspection points to make it possible for Security personel of both nations to inspect trucks and cars BEFORE they are handed a golden opportunity to inflict a devastating terrorist attack.

Yet parochial morons in Washington, Ottawa and Mexico City continue to ignore the real and present terrorist danger posed by radical groups eager to inflict yet another devastating attack upon our economies and security.

Thank providence that CSIS was successful in this one case, but how many more radical groups and individuals, already here and eager to make their mark, will go undetected??
