Biden: Rumsfeld should step down; restates call, this time over Haditha
CNN: Biden: Rumsfeld should step down
Democratic senator restates call, this time over Haditha killings
Sunday, June 4, 2006

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld should step down amid an investigation into whether U.S. troops covered up the suspected intentional killings of Iraqi civilians in Haditha, Sen. Joseph Biden said Sunday.

The Delaware senator is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a potential presidential candidate in 2008....

***

Biden told NBC's "Meet the Press" that the accountability for Haditha and other alleged atrocities in Iraq should go all the way up to Rumsfeld...."We can't get rid of the president; he's there for two-and-a-half more years," Biden said. "There is a system of accountability....When you make serious mistakes, you step forward and you acknowledge them and you walk away."

"Presidents can't and shouldn't do that. Secretaries of defense can and should."

Biden said Rumsfeld "should be be gone; he shouldn't be in his office tomorrow morning."...

1. I disagree...
Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Bolton, and quite a few need to resign now. The damage they've done to our country will take decades to repair. They are toxic. They poison everything they touch. We can begin making amends to the world by making sure they spend the rest of their lives in prison.

3. Biden has been their buddy up until he spoke about being

President.

Isn't this the first time he spoke of Rumsfeld stepping down?

IMO, they should all step way down.

5. I call Bullshit on this one:
"Presidents can't and shouldn't do that.

Oh my - resignation is on the table - Impeachment is in the air.

Note to Biden: You are too stoopid to breathe and talk simultaneously. So STFU.

6. Do you fire the police chief
Edited on Mon Jun-05-06 02:47 AM by radfringe
"It's absolutely wrong in the face of Haditha, before you know what's gone on, to call for the resignation of anybody," said retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Don Shepperd, now a CNN military analyst. "Put this in perspective. Do you fire the police chief every time one of his officers does something wrong? No."

yes - you fire the police chief when he's unable or unwilling to hold those under him responsible/accountable and the chief spends his time covering things up, spinning and hiding.

it took the rubber-stampers less than a week to call for and have an investigation/hearing into the FBI raid on Jefferson's office. the rubber-stampers were screaming in the halls.

How long has the Haditha story been out there? and other similar atrocities? Where's the screaming from the rubber-stampers? Where's the call for investigation/hearing? Where's the accountability?

so far - bush is "troubled" and troops are getting remidial "values" training.

"We can't get rid of the president; he's there for two-and-a-half more years," Biden said. "There is a system of accountability. ... When you make serious mistakes, you step forward and you acknowledge them and you walk away.

sorry Sen. Biden - we can get rid of the president, no matter how much time he has left. It's called impeachment, it's called accountability and the fact that he's there for two-and-a-half more years makes it even more of an imperative that we get rid of him now and get back on the right track.
