Ordinance creates separate shelter for sex offenders
LEE COUNTY: As Southwest Florida continues to feel effects from Tropical Storm Alberto, Lee County Commissioners unanimously approved an ordinance that creates separate storm shelters for sex offenders and predators.

Most people saw the images from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and heard the reports of rape and violence in public shelters. Lee County leaders have heard those stories as well.

"New Orleans definitely was one of the things we looked at," said Sergeant Tracey Booth of the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Booth monitors the 481 registered sexual offenders and predators who live in Lee County.

2. Um, if they cannot be trusted in a public setting
then why are they wandering amongst us in the first place?

But don't ask me. About 6 houses up the street there's a pedophile who committed multiple types of sexual acts at gunpoint multiple times on multiple children. He is free; my little boy is not. My little boy can't ride his bike up the street to visit his friend who lives just on the other side of the pedophile. So I'm a bit biased on this issue, I'll admit.

3. The guy you mentioned probably pled to a lesser, included offense
Like lewd behavior or something. They do that if the kid isn't a very good witness and there's no physical evidence. That way, they get the guy for a couple years or so and they figure it's better than him walking scott-free.
