Bus Bomb Kills 10 Workers in Afghanistan

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan Jun 14, 2006 (AP)— A bomb hidden on a bus carrying Afghan laborers
from a coalition base in southern Afghanistan exploded Thursday, killing 10 and wounding 15,
police said.

The attack occurred as the bus was carrying the workers from the Kandahar Airfield,
the coalition headquarters in southern Afghanistan, said Abdul Hakim Hungar, the deputy
provincial police chief.

The blast destroyed the bus and left blood and body parts scattered on a road
in downtown Kandahar city, a former Taliban stronghold.

1. A way of saying "coalition troops can't protect you", I guess
I am not saying it's right, but that's how these wars go.

3. At least 10 dead in Kandahar bus explosion
A powerful explosion on board a bus killed at least 10 people and wounded 15 in Kandahar city in southern Afghanistan on Thursday.

Police say the bomb was hidden on board a bus carrying Afghan labourers working for U.S.-led military forces at Kandahar Airfield -- the coalition headquarters where over 2,200 Canadian troops are based.

According to the Associated Press, the rush-hour blast destroyed the bus and scattered body parts on a road in downtown Kandahar city.

No soldiers were injured in the blast.
