Israel denies breaking Lebanon bombing suspension(Hadn't Started Yet ploy)
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L31105813.htm
ERUSALEM, July 31 (Reuters) - Israel said on Monday it launched air strikes in eastern Lebanon overnight but that the raids occurred before the start of a 48-hour suspension of aerial bombardments in the south.

Earlier, Lebanese security sources said Israel had launched attacks after the suspension went into effect and that at least two air strikes hit roads near the Lebanese border with Syria in the early hours of Monday.

I am sorry, but right now Israel has the same credibility as our own Pentagon.

Israel Bombs Suspected Guerilla Positions After Announcing Airstrike Suspension
Monday, July 31, 2006

BEIRUT, Lebanon — Israeli warplanes struck suspected guerrilla positions in eastern Lebanon near the border with Syria early Monday, security officials said.

Israeli jets carried out two raids at approximately 1:30 a.m. local time near the village of Yanta, the officials said because they were not authorized to give statements to the media. The village lies about 3 miles from the border with Syria and 34 miles southeast of the capital, Beirut.

11. Horrible
http://www.juancole.com/
Blanford reveals that Israeli warplanes actually continued to bomb the town while the rescue workers were pulling ragdoll-dead children out of the building. That's cold, man. Cold:

' An earth-mover ground down the lane and began clawing chunks of concrete away from the building. Even as the rescue team toiled to recover the dead, Israeli jets continued to roar overhead and the thump of air strikes and exploding artillery shells reverberated around the steep valley. '

12. I think the reason that our government is able to lie to us so
successfully is because they are taking lessons from the Israeli leadership. "Promise them everything, give them nothing, and apologize for it later."

The Israeli government should be recognized as the greatest liars the world has ever known.

19. ON THE SPOT: Loopholes let Israeli airstrikes continue (TimesOnline UK)
Stephen Farrell, Times Middle East Correspondent, in Metula, says that Condoleezza Rice's diplomatic success in arranging a 48 hour halt to Israeli air strikes contains two loopholes so large that it is having virtually no effect

"There is a large discrepancy between the words that came out of the US State Department last night announcing an immediate 48 hour halt to Israeli air strikes on southern Lebanon, and the reality on the ground this morning.

"Certainly this is no ceasefire. Any Lebanese villager stranded near the border with Israel would notice no difference in the level of military activity compared to yesterday.

"From where I am standing in the village of Metula I can see Israeli 155mm shells continuing to rain down on the Lebanese border town of Kila at a rate of more than one a minute, causing fires and covering the hillside opposite in a pall of drifting smoke.

20. I know what happened
Bush was on Eastern time & he secured the cease-fire through Condi. The Israelis then called for a cease-fire but they knew since Bush was on eastern time which was 8 hours behind their clock they had that amount of time left to conduct air-strikes. The other theory could be they were now after only targets that were of an immediate threat which means they will not be killing any civilians. By immediate threat they meant people who are terrorists now, not they children who could grow up to become terrorists.

21. They have been bombing all day....
Israel has decided to deploy troops into southern Lebanon and says the ceasefire does not apply to that. Meanwhile, the people still in southern Lebanon who thought they could get out are being rained on by bombs, tank shells, war planes, etc. Frankly Israel lies and is still lying. It's calling it all a 'partial halt'........basically they are 'partially' shooting at any thing that moves.:eyes:

23. As opposed to full halt
So this is like a person who is an alcoholic who one day decides it is time to give up on alcohol, after causing a whole family to die in a car accident. But he then says I think I will just give up on hard liquor & drink beer instead.
