Australia To Boost Iraq Deployment - Defense Minister

Australia will boost its military force in Iraq by an extra 38 personnel and 4 Bushmaster troop carrying vehicles, Defense Minister Brendan Nelson said Monday.

Nelson announced the extra troops in Canberra after returning from visiting Australian troops in Iraq and Afghanistan from Aug. 28 to Sept. 2.

Australia has about 4,000 army, navy and air force personnel deployed in Iraq, Afghanistan, East Timor and the Solomon Islands.
