BAGHDAD (AFP) - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice urged Iraqi leaders to live up to their promises to halt the brutal wave of violence engulfing their country, on a surprise visit to Baghdad.

Rice arrived in the war torn Iraqi capital, gripped by the year's worst wave of bombings, in a C-130 military transport plane after circling for 45 minutes over an airport temporarily closed by rocket attacks.

It would probably do her (and Rummy) a world of good to be on the ground when the building they're in starts shaking and shedding plaster from mortar attacks on the next block. Notice I don't want them hurt in any way -- but Bush admin officials hop over to Baghdad for a quick visit, spew platitudes, and fly out without so much as mussing their hair. I think they should at least hear the explosions that others are dying in.
