Kean calls for Hastert's resignation
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - New Jersey Republican Senate candidate Tom Kean Jr. on Friday called for House Speaker Dennis Hastert to resign over the congressional page cybersex scandal, making him the first major candidate in his party to do so.

"He is the head of that institution and this happened on his watch, and Kean urges House leaders to go further by appointing an outside panel to review the matter immediately," Kean spokeswoman Jill Hazelbaker said.

Kean, in a tight race with Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez, added that if any members of the party beside Hastert or his staff are found to have covered up knowledge of the scandal, they should also resign or be relieved of their duties, Hazelbaker said.

"This disturbing situation is another reason why the public holds the Congress in such low esteem, the culture of protecting each other has eroded Congress and the public's faith in government and the system needs reform," Hazelbaker said.

2. And only for selfish reasons
the republican kean, jr does not care what hastert did or what foley did. He obviously knows from internal polling that hastert may cause HIM to lose his senate bid. To hell with the pages. To hell with integrity.

10. Actually Kean has been following this playbook for months
He has been doing everything he can to publicize what he disagrees with by the Bush Admin...shit he called for Rummy resignation a few weeks ago!

So to be fair this isn't exactly a new tactic on his part.

It did help him temporarily close the gap with Menendez(who gained a little ground back in the last two weeks) but who knows if it will payoff come Nov.....

21. Shimkus
I would also love to see him go. I live in a part of dist. 19 that has no signs for Danny Stover the Democratic candidate. I had to look him up on the internet to remember his name from the primary election last Spring. I emailed his office to see if they intend to come this way. No. I don't see much hope that he can pull this off unless he is campaigning harder in the more populous sections of the district.

offering to do whatever I can to assist him in his battle, but they did not even bother to respond. Unless Shemp gets nabbed by the short curleys for his lousy performance on the board, I don't hold out a lot of hope for his demise.

16. From my Sunday Editorials
Last month Colin Powell criticized the Bush administration
about the world’s skeptical perception of American values: a
pre-emptive war and an unjustified occupation of a sovereign
nation in the name of terrorism and torture. Powell said:

"The world is beginning to doubt the moral basis of our
fight against terrorism. To redefine Common Article 3 would
add to those doubts. Furthermore, it would put our own troops
at risk."

But there’s another war going on within our frontier.
Republican politicians and other leaders are waging a war
against ourselves; that is, a war against our own moral basis.
Here are the parade's grand marshals. Patricia C. Dunn, the
head of Hewlett Packard resigned for spying on her own Board
members. Jeanine F. Pirro is being investigated by Justice
about spying on her own husband. George Allen, the Republican
senator from Virginia--and God Forbid potential presidential
candidate--is a racist. And now, Mark Foley, Republican from
Florida, turns out to be a sexual predator.
Some may say, “Give Foley the presumption of innocence.” Or,
“he’s innocent until proven guilty.” I say let him walk the
gaunlet and be tried in a court of law. That he resigned his
office isn’t enough, for the raping of innocent children must
not go unpunished. Furthermore, the stench of
"cover-up" is so strong that heads will begin to
roll--Hastert's first.

20. Foley has already admitted his own guilt, although,
no doubt, not the full extent of it. Anybody tries to hand me any crap about "innocent until proven" will get shot down right now!

7. Good luck with that, Mr. Kean
And for Menendez, the answer practically writes itself: "I agree completely with my opponent that the current Republican regime in Washington is held in very low esteem by the voters. And they should be. But sending yet another Republican to the Senate is hardly the answer. Vote Democratic; vote Menendez."

Kean senior is a twisted shell of garbage human, although predating them by a few years, exactly the mold from which the modern pornopsychic pooplicon evolved.
