Review Finds Mistakes On 5,100 Absentee Ballots (OH)
Board Of Elections To Send Reprinted Ballots To Voters

POSTED: 5:24 pm EDT October 9, 2006
UPDATED: 6:20 pm EDT October 9, 2006

CLEVELAND -- There are more troubles for the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections just one month before the state votes on a new governor.

The troubles center around the absentee ballots sent out to voters. A weekend review revealed 5,100 ballots that have misprints of one form or another, NewsChannel5 reported.

The review was prompted by last week's discovery that 1,500 ballots in Ohio's 7th House District race listed the wrong party affiliations for the candidates.

Some mistakes discovered over the weekend include one candidate's name appearing smaller than his opponent's on the ballot because of its length.

Mistakes on Absentee Ballots in OH.......Imagine that. Especially given the fact that Cuyahoga County is very blue.

1. ...and also...
Dems are pushing absentee ballots big time, whereas Reps push more for voter turnout at the polls.

They know they can screw with the absentee ballot system, because more Dems vote absentee.

Here we go again.

22. The Democratic party and our Board of Elections
are pushing for us to vote absentee in Ohio this year. Take my county for instance we have gone from 90 voting places to 60, our biggest city has gone from 7 voting places to 1. The one place that is still open the voting is on the second floor, the first floor is handicapped acesable but not the second!

2. Sounds like FOX and the State of Ohio hired the same graphics
editors.

This is starting to like an MO to me - Obfuscate and confuse and make it look like it could be an honest mistake. Well - the people that make these mistakes should be fired. The fact that there is little noise over this tells me that it is not an innocent mistake.

3. This stuff just makes me sick...
...I am doing what I can to change things. However, I feel as if they've got the fix
in, and their plans made--and we'll sit around complaining about it on messageboards--
after the fact. For months, we'll get little glimmers of hope--that some politician
might stand up, or someone might contest an election...or someone might start an investigation.

Meanwhile these thugs will trudge forward, laughing their asses off---that they screwed
democracy and the Democrats once again.

I just don't think I can take this again. If they steal it again--and create havoc coming
from 27 different directions--we've lost again.

It just sickens me.

5. I don't think that
they can manage to "steal the vote" with Strickland being up by close to 20%. Not a chance with him, anyway. I share your frustration, but am hopeful.

...and you certainly know Ohio politics better than I! :)

If you don't mind, I'm hitching a ride on some of that hope. I'm bogged down
in stinkin' thinkin right now. I'm just a big Gloomy Gus today.

Maybe I just need some sleep.

Thanks for the ray of sunshine! :)

15. Think positive thoughts, we are GOING to take OH
Diebold or no Diebold. They can't steal this one, the numbers are just too much in the Dem column.

The minute my overseas ballot comes, I vote straight Dem to end your misery there, my parting gift to Ohio. Next year, I'll be registered in PA.

Good luck Buckeyes~~~

9. Very scary-- but not unexpected.
There are so many ways they steal the votes.
Is it best to vote at the polls instead of absentee ballot? Guess I need some expert advice since my head is swimming in visions of ballot tampering.

13. BRENDA (THE BUSH SHILL) SNIPES is up to the same sort of tricks here
in BROWARD COUNTY ... her misprints happened in VOTER REGISTRATION CARDS that her office mailed out to BROWARD COUNTY VOTERS with correct names but wrong precinct numbers. Those were caught be a vigilant citizen who brought it up to the attention of the local t.v. stations. the "hiccups", "Mistakes" or whatever excuse Brenda the shill Snipes wants to give them, she says have been corrected. the t.v. stations have not reported any more mistakes since them. we will have to wait 'till after the election to hear about all sorts of sorry excuses for how she sold our votes to the republicans.

20. No kidding. Someone should suggest reworking our laws which allow
campaign managers for one party or the other to be in charge of voting, as Blackwell was last year, and Katherine Harris was in Florida, or to be in charge of the voting in an election in which they themselves are running.

It's getting just too damned dirty around here. Republicans are finding the way to commit crimes before people ever had the foresight enough to write laws against them first.

25. May I turn the spotlight to the Tennessee Rep. dirty registration tricks
for this post, please? It's a couple of days old, and can't be run by itself in LBN, yet wasn't available in national news when it was new:

Questionable voter registrations linked to group hired by RNC

Election officials in Nashville and a neighboring county say a voter registration group hired by the Republican National Committee has been linked to a dozen questionable voter registration forms.

Liberty Consultants is responsible for 12 registration forms in Davidson and Williamson counties that included the names, addresses and phone numbers of real people. But it had incorrect personal information such as Social Security numbers, signatures and birth dates.

The group is funded by Arizona GOP and Christian Coalition operative Nathan Sproul. Republican National Committee spokesman Danny Diaz said the committee is monitoring the situation.

Diaz said he did not know if RNC officials knew about Sproul's connection to Liberty Consultants and said he could not provide more information. However, RNC officials told The Associated Press in August that they had hired Sproul.

Remember Sproul?????

Sproul!

From The BRAD BLOG:

GOP Operative Nathan Sproul is Back at Work!

AP Has New Details on the Apparently RNC-Funded Registration Fraud in Tennessee, Now Linked to Sproul & Associates
Fraudulent, Shredded Voter Registrations In 2004 Linked To Same Shadowy RNC Operative, Recipient of Largesse…

Last week we ran an item on fraudulent Voter Registration Forms submitted by a group reportedly tied to the RNC down in Tennessee where there's a tight U.S. Senate race in play to replace the outgoing Bill Frist.

More information on those dirty tricks, and the ties to long-time Arizona-based GOP operative, Nathan Sproul & Associates, are now being reported by AP.

Sproul & Associates, and their various shadowy front groups, were linked to the shredding of Democratic Voter Registration Forms in Nevada, West Virginia, Oregon and elsewhere in 2004 as reported by Max Blumenthal in October of 2004 and again recently in Bobby Kennedy's Rolling Stone exposé asking "Was The 2004 Election Stolen?" More details about Sproul and the millions of dollars he seems to have received from Team Bush '04, and their attempts to hide those costs, were reported by Mark Crispin Miller in June of 2005.

Regular readers of The BRAD BLOG will recall that Sproul & Associates were given buckets of unreported RNC cash before, during and after the 2004 election. For some reason or another. Sproul is also reported to be an organizer for the Christian Coalition. Natch.
