A misunderstanding with the supervisor of elections office has caused the inaugural popular vote in the Northern Palm Beach Improvement District to hit its first election snag.
Now some of the district's residents will have to cast paper ballots for the race and wait at least a day after the vote before they can expect election results.
The news has left district officials wondering about the fate of their first-ever popular vote. "I just want this taken care of so we have a good, valid, nonpartisan election," district attorney Kenneth Edwards said.
To clear things up, the elections office is mailing out notices to voters within the taxing district reminding them that the Nov. 7 election is indeed an at-large vote.
It wasn't always so clear to the supervisor's office.
