Lamont files FEC complaint against Lieberman
Says Conn. senator fails to account for petty case from earlier in race

HARTFORD, Conn. - Ned Lamont's campaign filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission on Monday, accusing Sen. Joe Lieberman of failing to account for $387,000 in petty cash his campaign spent days before the Democratic primary.

The Lieberman campaign has denied any wrongdoing.

"The public has a right to know how nearly $400,000 in cash was spread around the streets of Connecticut," said Lamont campaign co-chairman George Jepsen at a news conference.

2. CT residents Please Sign the Petition....
"Imagine what a campaign could do with $387,000 in cold, hard, unaccounted for cash.

Joe Lieberman called it "petty cash."

There's nothing petty about one out of every twelve dollars spent by a campaign coming from a slush fund filled by those profiting from war, high gas prices and expensive medicine.

Regrettably, that's what Joe Lieberman did.

Our campaign is filing a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) this afternoon asking them to look into potential illegal activity. Will you add your name to the letter?

Campaign finance law dictates "A political committee may maintain a petty cash fund out of which it may make expenditures not in excess of $100 to any person per purchase or transaction."

The law exists because politicians handing out $387,000 in cash days before an election opens the door to all types of unethical possibilities.

Will you sign your name to the FEC complaint?

Three hundred and eighty-seven thousand dollars ... cash.

What could you buy with that much money? Who could you buy with that much money ... especially if no one ever had to know?

The people of Connecticut deserve to know.

Sign the letter.

It's time for change,

Tom Swan
Campaign Manager, Ned Lamont for U.S. Senate"

That's how I see the situation in the Connecticut Senate race. Not a chance. No way. No way in Hell.

No way, that is, that the actual election results will look ANYTHING like what the polls are currently saying.

This race has been a muddled, confusing, surprising mess from the beginning, with nothing in it conforming to expectations. The current polls show Lamont trailing by double-digits--a fact that has caused everything from handwringing to outright obituaries all over the liberal blogophere.

Honestly, that's a load of horse manure. The polls showing Lamont leading by double digits before the primary were out to lunch. And so are the current polls.

NOTHING about the race as it's currently polling makes any sense--and it won't pan out that way. Ned Lamont is going to win this election, and here are the reasons why: "
