President Bush visits Michigan; raises $700,000 (calls candidate by wrong name)
WARREN, Mich. (AP) - President Bush headlined a fund-raiser in Warren tonight that raised $700,000 for Republican U-S Senate candidate Mike Bouchard.

He told the crowd that the Democrats are (quote) "dancing in the end zone" when they're only on the 15 yard line.

Before arriving at the fund-raiser, Bush and Bouchard stopped by the Morley Candy Makers factory.

Before coming to Michigan, Bush was in Des Moines, Iowa, at lunchtime. He helped raise $400,000 for the state Republican Party and congressional candidate Jeff Lamberti. The president mistakenly referred to Lamberti as "Dave" throughout his speech.

8. No, no! You don't understand! "Dave" is just another...
...of blivet's cutesy "nicknames" for people around him. He just CALLS Jeff "Dave." It's witty and casual and manly and cameraderic or whatever.

Geez, you guys just don't get it, do you?

exasperatedly,
Bright

5. Yup, we were just talking about this...

...in the Iowa forum. Jeff "Dave" Lamberti is the Rep Congressional candiate, and he's running in my Iowa district
against Dem Leonard Boswell.

Lamberti is one of the richest guys in the state. He would be a complete Bushbot lemming, if he
was elected (but he will lose).

I think this is absolutely hilarious. The mucky-muck Republicans were gathered at the state fairgrounds
to celebrate themselves, meet the pResident and to get Jeff-Dave elected. Then, the pResident can't
even remember the first name of the candidate that he's there to tout. Too much!!!!

Can you imagine the limo ride back to their respective mansions? "Can't that bastard do anything right?!".

Lamberti looks like an idiot, and the entire event looked staged and ridiculous. This was supposed to
energize "the base", but how energized can you become when the pResident calls the candidate by the wrong
name????

 I'll just enjoy this for a while...

10. According to the desperately behind Len/Lee Munsil for Governor here
in AZ he did it on purpose because he's a genius. Supposedly the media attention to the gaffe is supposed to engender greater name recognition and media attention.

7. I just saw a poll with Stabenow 12 points up.
Is that true. Any Michiganders out there to verify? If it is true, then what is Bush doing in Michigan?

11. I've heard that there are few spots that Bush...
...can speak. He's so disliked that he has to stay away from the East and West Coasts.

I guess he finds some popularity in the Midwest. I'm ashamed to say that Junior was in my state, Iowa.
What does that say about us?

My guess is that Junior is going to places where protests are likely to be smaller and support bigger.

That way, the Reps can say that Junior isn't being hidden--but he really is.

to have the so-called President of The United States stand up at his event and make an ass of his self?

What won't these people do for money? Anything?
