CAMPAIGN 2006: Iraq vet targets Porter (R) vote (porter voted for vet health cuts)
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 03:48 PM by NVMojo
At one point in 2004, after a bullet fired from a rooftop in Iraq severed his spinal cord, Tomas Young wanted to die.

Today, the former infantryman is alive and doing all he can from his wheelchair to kill the re-election bid of U.S. Rep. Jon Porter, R-Nev., who faces Democrat Tessa Hafen in the 3rd Congressional District.

And you may well see Young try do so repeatedly in the days before the election.

In TV spots that began playing Thursday in Las Vegas, Young, 29, of Kansas City, Mo., says that when he got home from Iraq, he learned Porter voted to cut health care benefits for veterans.

"That may make sense from where he sits in Congress, but not from where I'm sitting," Young says in the ad created by VoteVets.Org, a veterans group founded early this year by veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

Young has also made similar ads urging viewers not to vote for congressmen in New York, California and Minnesota, representatives who joined Porter in calling for nearly $1 billion in cuts for programs involving veterans through 2010.

1. It didn't make sense in Congress either!
These people have a commitment to Veterans, they don't want it, don't go to war Period. Or be real and don't train medics, don't have field hospitals and let's be up front about it-get wounded you die. One or the other. The military is dangerous even in peacetime, people are getting hurt and killed every day, literally.

Jefferson was right-get rid of the standing army.

To reveal it's true face. Happy Halloween?

Man, my heart goes out to you. I doubt I could do what you are doing, so thanks.

7. Hoot, I recognized his face from another ad he did with Jerry McNerney
Jerry is in a knock down fight against Pombo in California (CA11). Pombo has an equally poor veteran voting record. Tomas Young, you ROCK!
