'Vanity Fair' details Foley's veiled life, teary fall
December 10, 2006

Back in September, when it became clear that the sex scandal involving then-U.S. Rep. Mark Foley was spinning out of control, he was told he'd have to resign.

In hysterics, Foley fell into the arms of sister and campaign manager Donna Winterson. "I'm so sorry I've done this to you," he wailed. The two rocked together, in tears.

<snip>

"Everyone knew Mark Foley was gay," the story starts. "Everyone. And everyone who had a stake in his success — party, press, parents, staff, supporters, and pages — conspired for their own purposes to keep the closet half closed."

Page Two is told Foley got an advance copy last weekend. His response: "It's not that bad!"

<snip>

Dinerstein hints that the White House may have been hip to Foley's eye for younger men as early as 2003, and that éminence grise Karl Rove pulled the plug on his Senate hopes. McCarty says she believes someone showed Foley an incriminating video to make him quit the Senate race.

Makes you wonder how many other 'incriminating videos' Karl Rove has up his sleeve?

1. It's how this White House "gets things done."
Why else would ANYBODY not just W, the most unpopular president in US history, to just SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY? Why? Just as everybody knew Foley was gay but they worked around it, everybody in DC knows the Bush Family is a criminal mob. And you don't face off against the Don unless you're prepared to spend the next few years in Sicily.

6. Since when did a 15- or 16-year-old become a "younger man"?
I guess since a raped 14-year-old Iraqi girl became a "woman".

Since the fucking Republicans took over the media.

7. There is a vast difference between gay and sexual predator
and I'm really tired of pointing that out.
