Two plead not guilty to Boston hoax charges (out on $2,500 bail
 That DA has NO case

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/02/01/boston.bombscare/index.html
CHARLESTOWN, Massachusetts (CNN) -- Two men pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges they created panic by placing "bomblike" electronic light boards displaying a cartoon character with an upraised middle finger throughout Boston.

Assistant Attorney General John Grossman called the light boards "bomblike" devices and said that if they had been explosive they could have damaged transportation infrastructure in the city.

Judge Paul K. Leary told Grossman that, according to law, the suspects must intend to create a panic to be charged with placing hoax devices. (Watch a Web video of men placing the light boards on structures around BostonVideo)

It appears the suspects had no such intent, the judge said, but the question should be discussed in a later hearing.

Peter Berdovsky and Sean Stevens were released on $2,500 bail, said Mike Rich, their attorney. The next pre-trial hearing is scheduled for March 7.

6. Whee....
Apparently the City of Boston is such an urban paradise, free from crime, homelessness, etc., that it has time to go full bore after such things.

At least Mayor Menino now has something to end the crushing boredom of such a problem free city...

8. Hoax?
Did the guys who placed those idiotic things call in and say they were bombs? Or did someone overreact in this wet-your-pants-be-scared-of-everything atmosphere, and now they're trying to explain away that unsightly stain? "You can't make fun of me for being a scared little girl! National security! Terrorist attacks! Bombs! Whaaaah!"

Grow up and grow a pair, you weenies.

12. It was the "overreact in this wet-your-pants be-scared-of-everything " reaction.

9. I am loking forward to
upcoming episode of Boston Legal. On that one screenwriters can really take a break
and go with actual court minutes. Too bad they didn't hire a midget to represent them.

10. What ever happened to "Standing Tall" in Das Homeland?
I guess it's easier to stand tall when you are bombing than it is when you just might be bombed yourself.

11. So what is more scary?
The fact that these guys, if they had been real terrorists, could have in fact planted all sorts of explosives all over Boston and could have gotten away with it.

Or

The fact that the boobs in charge of protecting us are clueless keystone cops that jump at each and everything that appears to be electronic with wire in the thought that they must be Bombs!!!

Never even addressing the fact that under their watch someones prank was able to throw an entire city into turmoil because they weren't doing their jobs properly. And when I say properly, meaning not causing a panic over a low priced toy.

Yes, please let's blame the pranksters for putting a glaring point on the total lack of preparedness by the "first responders" and hysteria that has hit this nation since 9/11 and is fed and fueled by the media.

Because if we didn't have that, how would HLS justify their outrageous salaries?

And

How come Seattle or any of the other cities that were pranked didn't react in this manner?

Boston and the officials there are just pissed off because they have been had. And are doing the best they can to keep this serious and dangerous as possible to deflect their completely stupid reaction to all of this. The more they complain the worse they look.

Period. end of point.

14. "if they had been explosive they could have damaged...the city"
if the m&ms i am eating were explosive i would have no jaw. if the toilet at work was explosive i would have not ass.

what a stupid sentence from a stupid bunch of people.

and it wasn't a HOAX or even an PRANK. it is viral advertisment and people need to pull the stick out of their behind.

16. "bomblike" devices??? Damn, don't drop you Cell Phone if you go for a walk in Boston!
Just about every Cell Phone could be called a "Bomb-like Device!"

And, of course, the Police are going after the little guy, and letting the Mega-Corp gets off scot-free. It was reported today on NPR that nobody even noticed any of these things, until CNN started REPORTING these "suspicious packages" yesterday, which is what started the panic. :banghead: :grr:
