White House welcomes Democratic oversight
OMB official says Democrats can expect candor and cooperation

WASHINGTON - A White House management official said Thursday there is "very little real accountability" in the federal government, and he welcomed the tougher oversight the Democrats have promised now that they control Congress.

"There cannot be enough accountability in the federal government," said Clay Johnson, deputy director of the Office and Management and Budget, which supervises executive branch agencies. "There is very little today. Very little real accountability."

Yet Johnson challenged Democratic lawmakers to help solve problems - not just hold hearings about them.

...

Johnson, previewing Bush's management agenda for 2007, said Democrats can expect candor and cooperation. He said his agency's intention is not, as one reporter asked him, to step up its internal reviews to keep Congress at bay.

1. And at the same time Bush will classify all the information he can
And stonewall Congress on what he doesn't.

5. Deception is relatively easy
But it takes lots of practice to effectively CYA; it's hard work. Just ask the Decider and the Vice (got that right) Puppeteer. There are plenty that need experience in scurrying around and diving under the carpet when the "RAID" comes out, therefore, opportunities to perfect this aspect of governing is "welcomed." Practice confabulating makes perfect.

8. Of course they do. Until they impeach, Congress might as well be picking belly button lint.

Bush and Cheney have proven over, and over, and over, and over, and over again that they understand NOTHING but force.

No finger wagging; no reports; no declarations that we must "make sure it doesn't happen again"; no accusations without consequence make a DENT.

Bush has been crystal clear about it. He told the nation that he will use the massive power of the American presidency as he pleases even if Barney is the only being on the planet that hasn't turned against him.

Congress has only ONE weapon capable of forcing a these people to "change direction" -- Impeachment.

9. I'm sure they do. And until this Congress, the Dems have, indeed, been ...
guilty of way too many oversights when it has come to the Dubya Administration.
