Brazile Thinks Gore Might Run
February 02, 2007- In a recent speech, former Al Gore campaign manager Donna Brazile "strongly implied" that her former boss could be "waiting to make a dramatic entrance into the 2008 presidential race, especially if he wins an Oscar next month," the Allentown Morning Call reports.

Said Brazile: "'I believe he is ready for this moment. He is a good leader. I think he can be one of the few leaders who can bring this country together."

"She acknowledged it will be a tough decision for Gore, noting Kerry's announcement last week to bow out of the race. Gore believes he is now doing his life's work, Brazile said. However, she conceded that Gore might be able to do more about global climate change from inside the Oval Office."

This country owes Al a good run. Even if he didn't make it, he would bring some powerful insight to the debate fiasco.

Edited on Fri Feb-02-07 11:32 AM by RestoreGore
Just another political operative speculating and dismissing the work he is doing now for her own benefit. And she actually had the shallowness in that article to claim that if he loses weight for the Oscars, he is running. How absolutely insulting to call him fat and therefore not good enough for it, which she definitely did by stating that. God, I sure hope he isn't sucked into all of this BS again.

I don't like how she triangulates all the time with the right as well. Gore needs to be himself and true to his supporters and not try to win over the right, which is what she tries to do.

23. Agreed 100%
When Gore was in the Senate, I used to love to watch him on Cspan when he came to the floor to speak. He was passionate, educated on the subject matter, humorous, engaging, fiesty.

Then when he was on the campaign trail 2000, I would scream at the TV, "Be yourself Al". It was as though he was programmed and would come off as condescending and stiff. That wasn't the Al I knew from all those years back. Donna was responsible for much of that.

No, the future President has been doing just fine on his own.

21. Please Al!! Run!! Please Al, stay the Hell away from Brazile!
She ran a disastrous campaign for you in 2000. In spite of that, you won the election (but not the recount).

You need somebody leading your campaign who will let you be Al Gore. I mean the same Al Gore that we've all come to know and love after the 2000 electoral debacle. If you are allowed to be that Al Gore, nobody could stop you from gaining the White House this time.

But please wait. Jumping in too early, like all these other idiots are, will just make you a target for that much longer. Time your entry carefully. In the meantime, bide your time and deny all questions about 2008.

37. Thank you for reminding folk about Rove's friend.
She's no friend of Al and Tipper. She just wants to be "there" should he look like he's going to run.

One thing for sure IF Al runs again:

1.) Joe Lieberman will not be his VP and Joe Lieberman will attack Al Gore for running if he does.

2.) Donna Brazile will not be involved in a Gore 2008 campaign, but she will be paid handsomely to provide information against him by the Republicans.

38. Gore Tells Silicon Valley Leaders He's Not Running
Edited on Fri Feb-02-07 10:47 PM by RestoreGore
Geez, can't people actually ask ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING? No wonder he rolled his eyes. I say, give it a rest already! Damn, I wish I was there, I would have asked about the explosion of solar energy research taking place there. Don't people really give a damn?
~~~
http://cbs5.com/localwire/localfsnews/bcn/2007/02/02/n/HeadlineNews/GORE-SPEECH/resources_bcn_html
UPDATE: GORE SPEECH FOCUSES ON GLOBAL WARMING
02/02/07 4:50 PST
SAN JOSE (BCN)
Former Vice President Al Gore told a group of Silicon Valley leaders today that he is not running for president but is "involved in a different kind of campaign'' to convince the public to deal with the inconvenient truth of global warming.
Gore delivered the keynote address at the annual Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network State of the Valley conference. Following his speech he responded to a few questions that conference participants had text-messaged onto a large screen behind the stage where he stood. At the first question on the list -- "Will you run for president?" -- Gore rolled his eyes and thanked the sender before giving what has become his standard answer in recent weeks.
"I don't have any plans to run for president,'' Gore said.
Gore's told the audience of Silicon Valley industrialists and government figures that developing clean and green technologies presents an opportunity to not only help the environment but also to make a lot of money for technology developers. He said he believes Silicon Valley can play the same role for clean and green technology that it did for the personal computer and the Internet.
"The world faces an unprecedented challenge and Silicon Valley can make an unprecedented contribution towards meeting that challenge,'' Gore said.
Gore called the increase in carbon dioxide levels that is linked to global warming a "crisis in the relationship between human civilization and planet earth.''
"We are now pressing against the limits of the earth's resources,'' Gore said.
Humanity's major role in global warming is now an accepted fact, Gore said, referencing today's release in Paris of a United Nations-sponsored report confirming that the burning of fossil fuels is most likely the cause of the phenomena. One scientist put the level of certainty at the "99 percent'' level, according to Gore.
"There's always a 1 percent chance the world is flat,'' Gore noted dryly about those who deny the link between carbon-based fuel consumption and global warming.
Gore called Silicon Valley a "second home'' because of his business interests in the region, including his roles as senior advisor to Google and on the board of Apple. He peppered his talk with only-in-Silicon-Valley wonky references to "Galilean discoveries,'' complexity theory, and Belgian chemist and Nobel laureate Ilya Prigogine. However, he aimed his speech not just at the scientists and engineers in the audience but also at the entrepreneurs.
"It's abundantly obvious that clean tech, green tech ventures will be a new pathway that attracts a lot more energy and time and investment,'' Gore said.
The former vice president and early Internet proponent encouraged both groups.
"Keep the pressure on, keep the research coming, keep the development at the pace we are now reaching,'' Gore said.
