Gallup: Bush Approval Rating at 32%, Hits New Low on Iraq

NEW YORK A new Gallup Poll finds President Bush with a 32% approval rating, with one ppoint of his all-time low. His approval rating on handling the Iraq war, at 26%, is now at its lowest point.

Gallup observes, "More Americans disapprove than approve of his handling of seven different issues tested in the poll; he is rated most positively on terrorism and the economy. Bush's approval ratings on foreign affairs, the situation in Iraq, and immigration are the lowest of his administration."

Bush has not been above 50% in any Gallup Poll in nearly two full years.

Republicans are still largely supportive of Bush -- 78% approve of him in the latest poll. But fewer than one in four independents (23%) and 1 in 10 Democrats (7%) approve: "Bush's approval rating among Democrats has been below 10% in every Gallup Poll since mid-October 2006. By comparison, Gallup never recorded a sub-10% approval rating for Bill Clinton among Republicans. His lowest support among the opposition party's supporters was 13% during the late summer and fall of 1994."

5. They had him at 36% three weeks ago
so this is dramatic, if still unbelievable from our perspective. Remember most people are more worried about who killed Adam Walsh than politics.

8. Gallup is historically high
If Gallup has him at 32%, you can bet that his real poll numbers are well into the 20s.

6. 78% of the repukes still support this idiot?
What does it take to wake up these people? Bush will go down in history as one of the worst 5 presidents in US history, and these people still blindly follow him.

He rated positively on terrorism and the economy? I thought the Iraq War was part of the war on terrorism according to the Bushits. The economy is awful except for those in the top 10-15 percent.

11. E&P needs a new online editor. "...with one ppoint of his all-time low" is garbled nonsense.
Even the crudest of spell-correction software would have discovered that.

13. By summer, he will be in Nixon land
President Richard Nixon's approval rating fell as the Watergate scandal became public in the first half of 1973, and was at about 25 percent during 1974.

17. I wonder if fewer people are self-identifying as Publicans
Edited on Tue Feb-06-07 10:26 PM by gristy
If so, and if the pollsters are "adjusting" their numbers based on what they think the Publican % should be, then * actual poll numbers are even lower.

Think about it. You've been registered as a Publican and voted Publican in the past, but you are so absolutely disgusted with the NeoCons that when Gallup calls you, you claim to be an independent (or, heaven forbid, a Democrat!). Enough people do this and everything gets screwed up.

It makes a world of sense that 78% of people who will still fess up to being Publicans still support the Pres. I'm surprised the number isn't higher.

On edit: As others have said. Gallup is always high. Even higher than Fox.
