NBC reporter to testify at CIA leak case

By MATT APUZZO, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 59 minutes ago

...........

Unlike his seat as host of "Meet the Press," however, Russert won't be asking the questions. He'll be in the witness box, fielding questions from prosecutors about his conversation with former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby and from defense attorneys who want to undercut his credibility.

Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald says he expects Russert to be his final witness Wednesday in Libby's perjury and obstruction trial. Libby is accused of lying to authorities investigating the leak of
CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity.

Russert and Libby tell two very different stories about a phone conversation they had in July 2003.

Both agree Libby called to complain about one of Russert's colleagues. Russert says the call ended there. Libby says Russert brought up the subject of an outspoken war critic, Joseph Wilson, a former ambassador who accused the Bush administration of doctoring prewar intelligence on
Iraq..........(more, details-------)

2. Wonder if Fitz will have a quote on a poster board, and ask
Russert to address the quote :)

3. I hope Fitz pulls some out of context quote of Potato Head's from
10 years ago and ask him if he still stands by it. That is a favorite little technique that Potato Head does to Democratic guests over and over again. PH goes on the assumption that NO one can learn, re-think and come up with differing opinions after a period of time (well, Chucklenuts can't)and then he "hits hard" if they don't stand by something they said when they were three-years old.

The extra bonus of this whole trial besides Scooter Liar, Dead Eye Dick, KKKarl and Chucklenuts being shown to have falsified intel to get into a war for corporate profit and fun, it has disclosed the vast network of pandering "journalists" who aided and abetted their endeavors. And Potato Head leads the pack.

Potato Head has been in the back pocket of this bunch of asswipes from the beginning - and it is now part of the public record. Priceless.

5. Russert is Pumpkinhead, not Potato Head
But the point is well-taken. Wouldn't it be delicious to have some stupid quote of Timmeh's billboarded and see him asked to defend it under oath?

I'm sure Fitzpatrick will be the consummate professional prosecutor, though I'd find it hard to resist asking Timmeh about some background things. Where do you live? Is that all year round? Oh, summers on Martha's Vineyard? Sailing? Other snooty, elitist activities? Uh huh. And what are you paid for Meet the Press? Other speaking engagements? Do you write a new speech for that 35 large, or just recycle the same one with a couple of points tailored to the audience?

6. Such a shame this isn't televised. Ah well.
It would sure be fun to watch this- actually the entire trial would have made for excellent t.v. viewing as would the replays of the many memorable sound bites from the courtroom (of which I imagine, there are many).
