ABC announces Democratic, Republican debate series

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Officials at ABC News announced Wednesday that they will sponsor a series of presidential candidate forums, beginning in August with Republican and Democratic forums in Iowa.

The forums, hosted by ABC's George Stephanopoulos, will include a Republican candidate forum on Aug. 5, and a Democratic candidate forum on Aug. 19. Both will take place in Des Moines. The Iowa forums are co-sponsored by ABC News and WOI-TV, with the Democratic forum also co-sponsored by the Iowa Democratic Party.

In addition, ABC will sponsor four forums in Manchester, N.H., two in October of 2007 and two in January of 2008.
