Gunmen kill 3 illegal immigrants in Ariz

TUCSON, Ariz. - Gunmen stopped a pickup truck full of illegal immigrants, shot several and took the rest captive Thursday in an attack that left at least three men dead and two people wounded, authorities said.

Authorities were trying to determine who the gunmen were.

The men shot three people, one fatally, along a known smuggling corridor near Tucson, then forced the six or seven other immigrants in the group to leave with them, Pima County sheriff's officials said.

The bodies of two of those immigrants were found a few miles north in the cab of the pickup truck that had been carrying the group. The other four or five immigrants had not been found by midday Thursday.

Illegal immigrants have been victimized by "border bandits" since there was a border. They routinely get robbed, raped, and murdered by criminals who know they are defenseless and are carrying everything they own.

I would not assume the Minutemen had anything to do with it until we have some specific information that says they did.

The attackers were rival smuggling gangs, not Minute Men.

This has been going on at the border for a long time: rival drug & smuggling gangs.

There is a similar case going on in Kansas.

People should not be blaming unless they know the facts.

Honestly, I'm just waiting for an Arizona Congressman or official to come out and blame this on the immigrants. It has come to that for me. This country is going to Hell in a hand basket and not because of illegal immigration but because of the racist attitude toward something that BRINGS US ALL TOGETHER.

I don't just blame conservatives either. Democrats in Congress have done a poor job providing solutions to an issue Republicans have used to cloud our vision from the war in Iraq. We are the most advanced and prosperous civilization in the history of Earth and we're afraid of immigration? Give me a break.

The solution to illegal immigration is an easy and sociological one. But as I stated above, I give the state of Arizona another 24 hours before some southwestern redneck comes out and blames the Mexicans for their murder.
