Health undersecretary arrested at Iraqi government's orders-Casey

Baghdad, Feb 9, (VOI)- The ongoing U.S. military commander in Iraq General George Casey said on Friday that the health deputy minister was arrested at the Iraqi government's orders.

The arrest of Hakem al-Zamli, health deputy minister, in the health ministry compound, central Baghdad, was carried out by Iraqi forces and not by the Multi-National Forces, General Casey told a news conference only one day before handing over responsibility to his successor General David Petraeus.
"The arrest was implemented according to orders by the Iraqi government," he added.

On Thursday, U.S. and Iraqi forces detained the health undersecretary Hakem al-Zamli after they stormed the health ministry compound in Baghdad.
The arrest led Iraqi health minister Ali al-Shemari in a news conference held in Baghdad on Thursday to describe the assault as a "kidnapping operation and a violation of Iraq's sovereignty."

General Casey also denied any U.S. role in kidnapping the Iranian diplomat Jalal Sharafi in Baghdad.

1. I don't trust any of them
Maliki is only worried about keeping power and will say anything just like his puppet master

4. It wasn't U.S. forces who arrested him
It was, ehhhhh, the Iraqis! Yeah, that's the ticket. And al-Maliki didn't issue a statement saying he didn't know anything about it, the statement actually said he did know about it--no, he ordered it! Yeah, that'll work.
